Depends on what it's a ranked for. I'd guess all averaged out the line was middle of the road.

Losing T Fred and having a gimpy Martin and Tyron changed what was supposed to be an elite strength— to an average at best unit.

Williams cutting his teeth as a rookie and a mid season coaching change certainly did not help either.

La’El regressing was a surprise as well... bottom line: Getting T Fred back next year and getting everybody healthy and strong will give us hope for a more productive OL going fwd

Are you ready for the statistical fact of where our Cowboys Oline ranked by the end of this 2018 Regular Season?

Cowboys Oline finished ranked 31st out of 32 teams!

http://www.nfl.com/stats/categoryst...8&seasonType=REG&experience=&tabSeq=2&role=TM

That says everything as to why our Cowboys season went the way it went and why it ended the way it did in the playoffs. Look at our opponents Oline rankings.

You have that sorted by sacks (see the red arrow by sacks)...we already knew Dak was the 2nd most sacked behind Watson.

Look! Now we finished 2nd ;)

Makes no sense. Look at the rushing numbers, rushing averages and rushing TDs. Other teams ranked lower have better numbers. All you did was flip the rankings from the original stat stated on the nfl.com page when asked to show Oline season's end rankings.

Some of those sacks were caused by Dak holding the ball too long, but mostly it was the line's bad pass protection and game-plan just sucking massively. It's easier for defenses to figure out how to get to your QB if they know every single play coming.

That was much more due to Dak than the O line but it helps the Dak supporters cause. Overall the O line sis still well above average compared to the rest of the league.

In run protection, yes. In pass protection the O-line struggled a lot over the season. Again, a lot of that was Linehan's doing, but bad techniques taught by a fired coach contributed, injuries contributed. Dak holding the ball too long contributed.

The pass protection wasn't well above average throughout the season.

Not defending our OL but I wonder if Dak could have avoided many of those sacks?

He could have avoided several by throwing the ball faster or throwing it away. It is what it is. He was never taught that throwing the ball away is a GOOD play. (And much better than taking a sack). That's on the coaches.

Callahan's coaching has worn off and as much as I like Colombo we have bad technique.
Things actually got better when Colombo too over. Looking at numbers in there totality for this season will only frustrate fans.

I think realistically about 25-30% were on Dak.

Now every team has some sacks that are on the QB. Dak caused more than average himself.

But even taking the dak caused ones into consideration, our pass protection was not good. It was middle of the pack AT BEST and really below average at some points in the year.

Say "Thank You" Dak as he's # 32 in pocket presence and holds on to the ball forever and ever preferring to take a sack (Fumble the Ball?) than throw it away....Heck even his own RT sacked him in his panic state of mind out there....

You aren't going to get 5 seconds every time you drop back in today's game. Dak needs to get better at making quicker reads and develop some sort of pocket presence. A lot of the sacks were on him, not all, but a lot.
