Cowboys Oline rated 16th - in pass blocking

16. DALLAS COWBOYS
2017 pass-blocking efficiency: 78.5

Best individual PBE: Zack Martin, 98.4

The Dallas Cowboys saw a drop off in production in 2017, having lost Ronald Leary and Doug Free prior to the season and left tackle Tyron Smith missing time due to injury. They allowed 19 sacks, 26 hits and 108 hurries on their 555 passing plays. Despite the cumulative setback, right guard Zack Martin continued his dominant play, as he allowed just 11 total pressures on 531 pass-block snaps, resulting in the highest pass-blocking efficiency among guards at 98.4. Heading into the 2018 season, the Cowboys hope that second-round pick Connor Williams can replace the production that was lost by guard Ronald Leary, as Williams allowed just 27 pressures on 932 pass-block snaps over the last three years at the University Of Texas. Where Williams plays in addition to their potential moves of La’el Collins is another story, and one that should be ironed out before Week 1 if they want to vault up this list.

The addition of Connor Williams and Cameron Fleming should provide enough brick and mortar to move the "Wall":banghead: easily inside the top ten, maybe even top five:thumbup:
If Williams was such a stud why did he fall until the second round? That means most teams had two shots at him. What did they see?

So 300 million in contracts only buys you top 10 or top 5 rating(Leaving our defense cap starved) hmmm then we wonder why we haven't raised SB # 6 .........The Dallas Wall the most expensive Myth out there.....as off-lines don't win Superbowl's!

He is a solid 2ND ROUND DRAFT PICK Qb's running backs and defensive players were selected before him He is 1st round talent a steal in the 2nd round

Looks small for the NFL.....and he cries to easy lol.....another piece of value for our Offline who have no excuse to get beat up by any defense...........

It was a combination of things, other needs being a big one, with guard not being a position historically valued as high as some others, particularly in the first round. Also, this looked to be a very good year for guards. IMO, Williams was the last guard to go in a tier of very good guards--after him I thought there was a significant dropoff. I'm excited about the pick.

Williams was changing positions, from tackle to guard, and he needs to get stronger to handle the bull rushes from some of the NFL tackles. Many/most guys entering the league need to get stronger to have success in the NFL. Williams has really good feet, I think he has a chance to be very good.

Myth?... I assure you the *** whooping that this O-line dishes out will be quite real. We control the line of scrimmage, We control the horizontal. We control the vertical. For the next 60 Minutes sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear.:)

LOL....love them but not at the expense of having a weak defense that cannot STOP a quality offense.....

I have zero concern about the OL except for injury which is beyond control. We have decent depth. I have spent some time thinking about center but there are guys who can play there. They'll have a backup C as well as swing tackle and an extra guard and tackle.

He looked good against our best o lineman and will play well against anyone he has Ware like skills and Ware was also under sized

You cut your thread post short..."in 2017"....

This year is going to look very different

I tend to agree! Until we run into a playoff caliber team and Garrett and the staff have to actually coach.

We all know last season wasn't pretty. I'd hate to be the QB on one of the 16 teams ranked after us.
