Any point in the draft doesn't mean we improve the position. Last year, we drafted Justin Rogers in the seventh round. In 2023, we draft Viliami Fehoko in the fourth. In 2022, we drafted John Ridgeway in the fifth.
If we want to improve the DL, we're going to have to make a concerted effort to do that early in the draft. That will be difficult because we have other positions that need addressing as well. If our option is to address those positions with cheap FAs, then they still will need to be addressed in the draft.
The front office could choose to focus more on those other positions because of what they just spent on a DL. Their attitude may be, esp. since this is considered a strong DT draft, that they can get one or two "at any point in the draft," but that's how you end up with a Rogers, Fehoko or Ridgeway.
