Signed by Cowboys Cowboys - Osa Odighizuwa agree to terms

How can they stop? They need 2 more dtackles?
They could go get journeymen or mostly washed-up cheap players like they usually do. They could use signing Osa for $80 million as an excuse to focus on other positions in the draft.

They could draft one or 2 at any point in the draft.

Any point in the draft doesn't mean we improve the position. Last year, we drafted Justin Rogers in the seventh round. In 2023, we draft Viliami Fehoko in the fourth. In 2022, we drafted John Ridgeway in the fifth.

If we want to improve the DL, we're going to have to make a concerted effort to do that early in the draft. That will be difficult because we have other positions that need addressing as well. If our option is to address those positions with cheap FAs, then they still will need to be addressed in the draft.

The front office could choose to focus more on those other positions because of what they just spent on a DL. Their attitude may be, esp. since this is considered a strong DT draft, that they can get one or two "at any point in the draft," but that's how you end up with a Rogers, Fehoko or Ridgeway.

I agree with this statement, He just can't stay healthy...Time for Kneeland to step up year 2.
Kneeland is why I don't think we draft a DE early in this draft. We're about to pay a premier pass rusher (Micah) and we just spent a second-round pick on a starting end. Unless Eberflus plans on Parsons playing a whole lot of linebacker, I just can't see DE being a priority at the moment. I think they'll want to see what they've got in Kneeland first.

We also have Williams coming back, but I don't think they can figure in that he'll be a top contributor since he wasn't even before he got hurt and now he's coming off an ACL tear. If they don't bring back Lawrence or Lawson, then I could see them adding another cheap DE to be part of the rotation. I view drafting a DE as a third round or later option for the team since it has its starters for this year.

I can see DE being a 3rd round selection in this draft unless one of the top guys are there at 12, If not i hope its DT, LB or WR with the pick

It will be interesting how it all comes together. They seem to like Mykel Williams and Walter Nolen. A very deep draft class at dtackle. It's going to be interesting how this draft plays out. There will be a lot of different ways that they can play it. There will be solid dtackles on the board at 44. It will be interesting if they get one there or if they get a running back there like Kaleb Johnson or another player at a different position.

because we are set at all the other positions, brilliant!!!
I think it has more to do with the Cowboys decade long struggle at the position. The Eagles were putrid in the secondary and signed a fairly big money guy in Gardner-Johnson and then used their 1st and 2nd on CBs.

Osa is a top 5 DT in QB pressures and hits. He is young and durable......I never had a problem with returning as long as we pair him with a solid run plugger/NT. No, Mazi ain't it .......lol
Mazi has been a bust. He has freakish athleticism but he’s slow off the snap and I don’t think he has the drive it takes to play up to his athleticism ability. This draft isn’t loaded at DT but there are some DT worth looking at. I like Jordan Phillips from Maryland and he could be availible in the 3rd. Quick twitch guy with good run defense ability and a little pass rush help mostly due to hustle. And he’s only 20

..well, its not bad. Osa has been the plus part to Dallas defense. He gets pressure, stops the run.

He's better than average.

Not sure what you mean here. Jerry is terrible for sure. The 3T on the DL? I don’t think so. You need to have a few interior defenders and I see Osa as just one. Frankly I would beef up with a large 3T for run downs and move Osa inside and out. I am addicted to draft simulators and keep picking Harmon in the first round after a trade down.
What I mean is that he gets one DT and then quits getting other DTs.

Those are strong points. We may be looking more at WR, unless they actually believe Mingo is an answer.
