Cowboys overall performance over the last decade

If Brady and mahomes played in the exact same era and every year Mahomes and Brady played each in Super Bowl and Brady won everytime....

How many years are you allowing a loser at QB before you change up the position?

Rookie contract and then second contract? 7 to 9 years of being a loser squad?

Are you giving Mahomes the 3rd contract?
What does any of that have to do with Jerry’s instance on making all the football decisions the past 30 years resulting in zero nfc championship appearances?

Age old question: How could a great NFL owner not only hire Jerry Jones as his GM, but also keep him in place after 30 years, only making the playoffs 13 times and winning 5 WC games?

Does a great owner keep Jerry Jones as his GM if he’s serious about winning a championship?
Excellent question. Jerry is loves being the face of the franchise winning be damned and the playoff results the past 30 seasons speak for themselves.

This question needs to be hammered home on this board.

If Shaquille ONeil beat Micheal Jordan in every playoff series they ever played and Shaq ended up with more rings...is Shaq the GOAT?

Is Bill Russell better than Shaq or Jordan? He has more championships.

Jerry has 3 Bowls, he ain't trying to win. Unless the players go rogue and take it into their own hands on the field. Then, they will still have to beat the refs that are paid to make Dallas lose in Playoffs since Jerry monetized the game and is making everyone money at the Cowboys expense of early playoff exits.

Until public sentiment forces the NFL to make the Cowboys win a Super Bowl, or until after Jerry passes and Stephen takes over and wants to win a few for his own legacy(assuming he does)...things aren't changing.

This a cash cow predicated on playoff failure

Jerry is supposed to be a marketing genius, but he has not marketed himself very well. Majority of Cowboys fans despise him.

:hammer:

Winner winner chicken dinner.

This fan nonsense of “Jerry is a great owner but a bad GM” is just that…..Nonsense!

Jerry sucks as a GM and he sucks as an owner. A “great owner” would never hire such a horribly incompetent GM…..much less keep him in place for 30 years and counting!

JR sucks as well.

How have the Cowboys performed over the last decade (from 2015-24) in some of the most important measurements like regular season wins, playoff appearances, and playoff wins?

Here’s how we measured up in the last decade from 2015-2024:
  • Regular season wins and losses: 93-71 (.567)
  • Won the NFC East 4 times: 2016, 2018, 2021, and 2023.
  • Playoff appearances: 5 times: 2016, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023.
  • Did not qualify for the playoffs: 5 times: 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2024
  • Playoff record last decade: 2-5 : Wins in WC round, 2018 and 2022, losses in WC or divisional round 2016, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023. (.285)
Overall, we won about 56% of our regular season games and 29% of our playoff games. We qualified for the playoffs 50% of the time, and won the division 40% of the time. We never earned the right in the playoffs to be one of the best two teams in the conference.

When I look at the Cowboys over the last decade I see a team that is above average in the regular season, makes the playoffs about 50% of the time and does not perform well in the playoffs. We have been a top 6-8 team in the league at times but not better than that.

Anything else?
so basically not good enough for post season , and not bad enough for a good pick ...

horrendous ...

pure evil .

Agreed. The Cowboys are simply Jerry's ego project, a means to prop his ego, let him be the face of the franchise, and provides him with the opportunities to pretend like he's the head coach, etc. How can any self-respecting owner allow this not only to happen, but feed and water this broken model for three decades?

You just know Jerry is going to make a statue of himself twice as big as Tom Laundry before he passes.
You are so right and we all know if WILL be significantly larger than the true Dallas legend Tom Laundry. I will supply the tar and feathers once they reveal the statue of the most selfish owner in sports history.

Regarding the refs cheating us during the playoffs, that's hilarious! It couldn't possibly be our defense lol.

what needs to be hammered home is how those like you think the sun shines out of Jethro's butt

  His team plays in a grand venue and show up to play respectable through most of their seasons. As frequent as other franchises who have gaps as well.

Now, talk crap to me some more, Son. I've been a fan since Day One and the 'Lil General. Throw some more at the wall, Sunshine.
there is a difference between being a fan and a blind homer
one cheers the team but recognizes its faults and the other is truly blind

Well, once Jerry decides his time is up and is pushing daisy's, who is to say DNA kid will be any different? That whole Jones's family are nothing but spoiled money hungry people, football come in second.

I have been a fan since I as a little kid and those years taught me that the Cowboys are held to a higher standard than other NFL teams. That gold standard is deep playoff runs (remember those?) and as a Cowboys fan, playoff wins are all that matter. I'm glad to finally meet a fan who is very happy with the post season results the past three decades.

I don't have your narrow eyesight.

Explain now how this tight end positional group has the complete backing of Bill Parcells...you can't!

What TE should we all be pulling for?

The Cowboys waited too long to find Dalton Schultz’ replacement, forcing them to use the franchise tag on Schultz in 2023. That same year, they hit on fourth-round rookie Jake Ferguson, allowing the team to move on from Schultz the following season. Well, time flies.

Ferguson is now entering the final year of his rookie deal. The Cowboys selected Luke Schoonmaker just a year after Ferguson, which seemed a bit too early if they wanted to space them out a bit. Schoonmaker has been slow to develop, but even if he does take a good step forward, he’d only have a chance to be the Cowboys' lead tight end for one season, which would be next year, assuming Ferguson leaves in free agency. So, who would be the best player to emerge as a key tight end?

Brevyn Spann-Ford

Last year’s UDFA Spann-Ford logged 305 snaps on offense. He could be a sneaky-good piece of the puzzle for new offensive coordinator Klayton Adams, who has shown to be very reliant on additional tight ends in his blocking schemes. Spann-Ford has three years of player control, counting his RFA year. If you’re really greedy, one of this year’s UDFA’s, like Rivaldo Fairweather or Tyler Neville, is technically the correct answer to this question, but we’re also trying to be somewhat realistic and feel the year two jump of an UDFA is more likely to produce favorable results.
