Cowboys Overall Talent Level

It is clear that the Cowboys have done a very good job or acquiring talent and the window remains open to win a super bowl. I guess how much talent the Cowboys have relative to other teams is the subject of legitimate deabate.

I would say that most people would agree that the Cowboys have top 10 overall talent and should be a favorite in most of their games. Some would say that we are top 5. I personally think we are in the discussion that we may arguably have the best talent overall in the entire league.

A lot remains to be seen, but there should be even more optimism from our 2016 rookie class. If Jaylon, Tapper and Rico turn out to be all that and a bag of chips and we continue to get the same or better play out of the other rookies in the class that actually played last year we have a chance at having the best one year draft classes of all time.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say at least one of the additional rookies (Smith, Tapper, and Rico) will become a starter this year. I really believe we will get more than that out of them.

I really see the only question marks as secondary play early on and pass rush. If we can just be average in those categories in the first half of the year we are going to win a lot of games folks. We should be better than league average in the second half of the year.

What can derail us? An injury to one of the big 3 on the OL. If Freddie gets hurt it's a different ballgame.

If Dak or Zeke are out, then it's a bad deal too. Oddly enough if Collins gets injured (on defense) it might hurt us as much or more than if Sean Lee gets injured. He is a very important piece of this defense.

If we can stay healthy, this could be a very god defense, and that includes Jaylon and Tapper. I predict top 7 defense if we stay healthy, with more upside than that. Tapper may be our x-factor this year.

So your basing this post on the fact that every little thing will go right, we wont have injuries, and all the rookies and 2nd year guys will turn out to be great?

I dont have any way of responding that. Not one shred of realism.

What was presented above, was abstract to begin with...

NFL.com had an article about potential deficiencies for each team
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000812320/article/biggest-remaining-weak-spot-of-each-nfc-team

here are the Dallas comments

Dallas Cowboys: Will the lack of a pass rush make the new Cowboys cornerbacks look bad, or will it be the other way around? There are no easy answers to Dallas' defensive woes on the roster, other than coordinator Rod Marinelli's penchant for coaching up lackluster talent with fundamentals and hustle. Adding first-round pick Taco Charlton won't be enough to fix a pass rush missing suspended players (David Irving and Randy Gregory) or players with injury concerns like DeMarcus Lawrence and Tyrone Crawford. Dallas' underrated secondary covered for the team's faulty front last season, but that will be far more difficult after an offseason exodus of four key free agents in the back end.

fyi

New York

New York Giants: This is a roster of extremes. There are position groups that rank among the best in football (wide receiver, defensive line, secondary) and position groups that rank among the shakiest (offensive line, linebacker, Eli Manning truthers and running back). Ultimately, the entire season could come down to whether young tackles Ereck Flowers and Bobby Hart reward their organization's undying faith.

Atlanta and Dallas in the NFC and New England and the Raiders in the AFC.
yep
nfl.com on possible short-comings....not much for Atlanta

Atlanta Falcons: The most complete roster in the conference is brimming with vigor and versatility, like the hair of the man who constructed it. General manager Thomas Dimitroff deserves credit for burnishing the team's open edge-rusher spot with numbers, even after Vic Beasley's breakout 2016 season. Beasley will be supported by first-round pick Takkarist McKinley, Adrian Clayborn, Brooks Reed and Derrick Shelby, who can all rush from the outside. Safety is another spot that could stand improvement, but this is a roster with few obvious holes.

I agree with everything you said, except i don't think losing Witten would be devastating at all. He is ok but nothing special at this point. He is a first ballot Hall of Famer, but he is just a guy for the most part at this point.
I agree with your assessment of his physical tools...however I still think there's an intangible that would come into play that would hurt the offense...but perhaps not to a devastating level as you say. I actually think with he is going to surprise us this year.

The only thing the Falcons will be short on is going to the Super Bowl once Dallas beats them in the NFC Title game and Dallas goes on to win the Super Bowl this Year.

I like how you formatted this using red and underlining the important parts....makes it easier!
