I knew Romo was the leader but had no idea the gap was this wide. Putting this in context...Romo only has one post-season win means.......IMO teams win in playoffs.

Want to know a quick rare indicator of how good those 70s teams were? They won a whopping 6 road playoff games between 1970 and 79. That included winning 3 NFC championship games on the road.Different eras, but yes, Romo is not the reason we didn't have more postseason success during his tenure. He could have played better at times, but I continually go back to rewatching the Staubach games and times when the defense and running game carried him in the playoffs when he was playing so-so or even poorly, missing passes he should have completed. We tend to remember Staubach's play favorably because of the team's success and because he was a great QB overall, but there were times that the team would have failed if others didn't step up and carry the load while he was struggling. Same with Aikman.
Not trying to disparage either Hall of Fame quarterback. They deserve the recognition they received, but that doesn't mean that every moment of their career was perfect. We tend to put the QBs whose teams failed under a microscope while looking at the big picture with the QBs whose teams succeeded.

The comparative freedom the defenses had should also be factored in.A lot of this is just a function of throwing the ball more when Romo was QB, which in turn has a lot to do with how the league had evolved.
If you look at TD's/pass attempt, Aikman is right there with Romo, and Staubach is a little behind them both. But that was a different era. I expect if the focus had been more in the passing game in the 1970's Staubach would probably have a better ratio than both.
Wow!! That's unreal.Want to know a quick rare indicator of how good those 70s teams were? They won a whopping 6 road playoff games between 1970 and 79. That included winning 3 NFC championship games on the road.
Since the 70s- basically the last 41 seasons- the Cowboys have won 3 road playoff games. 1980, 1991 and 1992. That’s it. It’s been 30 years since the Cowboys won a road playoff game.
Doesn't that mean, at least in part, that they were good enough to get home field advantage?Want to know a quick rare indicator of how good those 70s teams were? They won a whopping 6 road playoff games between 1970 and 79. That included winning 3 NFC championship games on the road.

1995 last time the Cowboys made it to a championship game. Let's think about that for a moment.Romo gets far too much blame. A lot of QBs do, but I think Cowboys QBs in general are held to too high a standard.
Well, in the Jerry era- since ‘89- the Cowboys are 2-9 on the road in the playoffs. The last road win for us was on Jan. 17, 1993 (‘92 season) when we beat the niners for the NFC championship in SF. Both road playoff wins were under Jimmy. How many playoffs games were on the road in those 30 years, as well, at home. It is still a bad record home and away. Just curious.

In the last 30 years at home, our playoff record is 10-5.How many playoffs games were on the road in those 30 years, as well, at home. It is still a bad record home and away. Just curious.
