Cowboys place 2nd round tender on Aubrey

Yeah, the Cowboy's GM has great instincts and history with finding those great athletes and drafting them in the 2nd round. Just a couple of seasons ago EVERYONE on this site wanted Audrey to retire as a COWBOY........................ They'll end up with that 2nd rd pick and piss it off of some bum who will end up being traded to the same team Audrey is kicking bombs on.

I hope he doesnt become disgrutled and start to suck ; but wouldn't that casue him to lose value going into the next season ? He just needs to wait it out and he may get a big payday next season. Maybe he can even up his game and increase his value even more.
I hope he doesn't get paid and start to suck!!

A 2nd round pick that could net you Jacob Rodriguez isn't a dumpster.
You are putting too much faith into Jerry using the picks he has wisely.

I highly doubt the Cowboys let him go. They will likely match any offer sheet they need to IMO.

I don't like RFA or the franchise/transition tags at all and I would they would remove them from the NFL.

That said, it's hard to feel sympathy for the players in situations like this because the NFLPA could make elimation of or limits to tagging a CBA negiation priority, but they don't.

They select other things as more important, which is fine, but they handed the NFL this benefit.
They are weak and the NFL owners have the best commissioner in sports (for them) who has so much power and influence that he is able to beat them down when they try to actually compete with one another in the marketplace. The collusion is institutional and with their team values going up up up, they have no reason to change anything.

I have faith in Parker and the players that will be available in the 2nd round and faith that they can get another kicker cheap.

A few months ago….folks said Aubrey was our MVP and our best weapon.

Now, folks want to let him go for a 2nd round pick (our recent history in the 2nd is putrid BTW).

People are weird.
Yup. I do not get this. It is not sensible.

Imagine letting one of the best kickers in the league go because you want a chance to draft Kelvin Joseph or Trysten Hill.

Fans ***** about not having enough talent, then want to let proven, elite talent walk in exchange for a complete gamble. Do we want to keep talented players or not?

I think of Sean McVay. If he needed a kicker, I bet he’d be happy to trade a 2nd for Aubrey. He throws around draft picks constantly … yet his teams are in the hunt every year.

To anyone rooting for this to happen, if we end up drafting some scrub JAG with the second we hypothetically get from Aubrey, are you guys going to say “well at least we didn’t pay the elite player we already had on the roster!”

I doubt any team will part with a second; but maybe if it is a late second...

we will see

They aren't drafting Hill or Joseph. They are drafting players like Jacob Rodriguez or Mike Washington.

sure you can get a kicker cheap
quality one? a TOP one?
typical hopium that this front office will figure it out

They don't even need a top one. A league average kicker and a good defensive player is what they need.

Although I'm all for keeping Aubrey, I have no problem with losing him for a second-round pick. The best kicker in the draft probably won't go until at least the fourth round and we can use the second-rounder to try to improve another position.

That’s not what our draft history says. Our draft history says we’re drafting Gavin Escobar, or Luke Schoonmaker, or Randy Gregory.

You really think Rodriguez will be around in the second, after he posted a great combine and had a fantastic LB season?

Should had put a1 on the tender not a 2 !
No one’s giving a second abd and a max contract to a kicker who’s FG pct is under 90%. There’s 10 guys who had better FG pct. Nick folk hit 96% of his FG’s. Aubrey is a long FG weapon but I also think it makes the offense get conservative once they pass the 50. Love to keep him but won’t lose sleep if he’s signed which I don’t think will happen
