News: Cowboys plan to sign RB Miles Sanders

Believe it or not I think Sproles falls somewhere in there along with Jay Ajayi and that one running back they got from Oregon Blunt.
Okay. Yeah I struck out with McCoy. He was treated in 2015 I thought I read. Sanders was drafted around 2019. Time flies. I remember Sanders was behind someone prominent. If it was Sproles that something thank you

Sanders and his agent were probably shocked that a team contacted them so early in free agency. Your Dallas Cowboys boys and girls.

Westbrook’s last season in Philly was 2009

Mccoy’s last season in Philly was 2014

Sproles’ last season in Philly was 2019 but he was old and didnt play

Sanders was the starter from day 1.

What you could be remembering is that Sanders is famous for being Saquon’s backup in college at Penn State

I could be wrong, it's a vague memory.

Sanders averaged 3.7 yards last season & 205 total, compared to Dowdle's 4.6 average and 1,076 total.
Newly added Williams also averaged 3.7.

For about the same price as the 2 Jags Dallas brought in, Dallas could have simply retained Dowdle- a far better back.
Jerry is truly brain dead.
Their logic is if they pay less for a player, it doesn't hurt as much if they miss. If they signed Dowdle and he failed, they didn't get their $6 million worth. If Williams failed, then $3.5 million is easier to stomach.

It's a poor strategy since you get lesser players by being cheap, so they could miss more easily on both Williams and Sanders than on Dowdle.

Miles Sanders is a better back than Dowdle

Talk about dumpster diving. Sanders looks shot! He’s rushed for less than 650 yards the past 2 seasons and has averaged under 4.0 a carry. We better hope we hit on a solid back in the draft or we’re going to be worse off at RB than last season. It’s obvious we’re not looking for quality. We’re just adding bodies.

Yeah, I'm with you. It seems so long ago

I went back and looked yesterday. They had a running back by committee, and no traditional number one. They went to Sanders in 2022 exclusively, and he got a majority of the carries. That was his best season then they let him leave in 2023. He was on the team that had Sproles, Howard, and Scott all getting carries. I do remember he backed up Barkley. They both were really really good at Penn State.

I wanted Miles when the Eagles cut him. Dude is fast through the hole. I like it!
No he’s not, he wants to bounce everything to the outside. He passes up 3-4 yard gains inside trying to get to the outside and it doesn’t work.

Dowdle is not getting 6 million, his deal is 2.75 with incentives to get to 6. As a backup I doubt he’s hitting all of those.
Williams’ deal is 3 mil with incentives to 3.5.

Right, I posted that after the thread was deleted.

Edit: It was being “reviewed” and not posted live.
The thread wasn't deleted. It was merged. Due to the volume of similar threads being created, all new threads are reviewed before going live. For example, when the Cowboys sign a FA or make a trade, they are always 5 or 6 new threads created about it. Obviously we don't need the Fan Zone littered with multiple threads about the exact same thing.
