Cowboys Playoff Scenarios

Since the same questions keep coming up over and over, here are the playoff scenarios as I understand them. Please correct any errors you may find.

1. Beat TB, PHI and NYG ->

• win the division.
• get a first-round bye IF NO and SF lose out.

2. Beat PHI and NYG -> win the division. Period.

3. Beat TB and NYG, lose to PHI ->

• win the division IF Giants lose to WAS or NYJ.
• win a WC under several unlikely scenarios involving losses by CHI, DET, ARI & ATL.

4. Beat TB and PHI, lose to NYG ->

• win the division IF Giants lose to WAS and NYJ.
• win a WC under several unlikely scenarios involving losses by CHI, DET, ARI & ATL.

5. Beat NYG only ->

• win the division IF Giants lose to WAS or NYJ AND Eagles lose to WAS or NYJ.
• cannot win a WC.

6. Beat TB or PHI only -> cannot win the division or WC.

Seems like we have some good possibilities here. Looks like we control our own destiny... even with all the screw ups we have had. Thankfully our division is TERRIBLY weak this year. We can certainly stay hot on offense and beat all 3 of these teams. Our defense is what it is.. it's not going to change at all, so knowing that, we just have to start lighting teams up on offense.

I disagree I think the defense is capable of better play. Not saying they will turn into the Balt Raven defense but this defense did a lot of good things early in the season.

The more Rob has added the worst things have gotten and now Rob has said he plans on cutting back on that to help avoid some of the break downs they have ran into. We will see

Uh, no. Look at scenarios 3 and 4 (I just now changed the numbering).

Well over 50%. Remember, the Giants are a 7-6 team that hasn't won a game by more than 4 points since September. I think the Jets are the favorite in that game - let's say they have a 55% chance of winning. I give the 'Skins maybe a 20% chance, maybe higher. That puts the odds at 64% that the Giants lose one of their next two games (with an 11% chance of losing both).

I also think there's a decent shot that the Cowboys beat TB and lose to the Eagles, meaning the season finale is for all the marbles...which wouldn't be the case if we lost to TB.
