Cowboys pleased with Trevon Diggs’ rehab this time after previous frustrations

I haven't seen anything credible that suggests the team wants him gone. I do think it will be a product of the team wanting to re-sign Bland, kind of like what happened to Cooper. If Revel steps up as a rookie and Diggs is slow getting back, then it would make some sense (and dollars) to try to get out of Diggs' contract since they will be paying big money to Bland.

Of course, there's a lot of time to play out before then. Diggs could get back faster than expected and have a great season. Bland could have a down season, or players who might could replace Diggs may not play well.

I know he's a whipping boy around here, but it will be interesting to see how it plays out. He was playing pretty decently before his reinjury. Of course, QBs were mainly choosing to throw at easier targets with Bland out.

So he comes back and has an all pro season, then what??
We could always restructure him and turn most of his $14.5 million base to bonus.

He's set to make $18 million next year, but if you push $10 million into the next two years, $8 million is not bad.

Of course, that would push his $23 million salary to $28 million the next year, but we could cut him then at a dead cap hit of $13 million.

So the question they will have to ask is if a $13 million hit is worth it for another year of an All-Pro instead of getting out of the deal next year for a $6 million dead cap hit.

I don't know if anyone can say definitively that his second injury was the result of his rehab after the first injury. I think that is speculation. Jerry seems to get frustrated over the wrong things, like when he dumped Cooper for a 5th because he was unhappy Cooper missed a couple of games. Injuries happen. Look at Overshown.

What concerns me more about Diggs, and Overshown, is how much of their speed and quickness will be reduced from the injuries that had. They can come back 100% healthy and yet not 100% of what they were before the injury.

I am also concerned they are injury prone, whatever that is. Some players just seem to get injured a lot. Sean Lee comes to mind.

It's good that Diggs has learned his lesson and has done all that's required of him to work out, as needed, to rehab from his injury. That means everything for his return to finally be successful.

Yes, he got into Jerry's doghouse the 1st time around, but that's no longer anything to be overly concerned about. He's been a hard worker as far as his devotion as a capable return is concerned.

His play was exceptional in the past. Let's hope the coming season proves to be an equal success.
Failing to afford him a fighter's chance to return to his former self would likely be an unwise decision.

I wouldn’t cry either way. Just stop with the false narrative.
There's no false narrative. I never said he doesn't occasionally pick off mid qbs which is who you listed. Most of his picks are against bad qbs, some against mid, NONE against elite. No false narrative my friend

Sell high, buy low. Soon as he's cleared, trade him.
Unfortunately, with the type of injury he had (chondral tissue graft procedure), not sure when he'll truly be back on the field and if his ability will be what it was. Noah Brown had the same thing and returned so it's possible but probably hard to trade afterwards.
