I sure hope so. I really hope Lawson falls to #18 because he would be the perfect fit to our current defense IMO. I wouldn't mind Carpenter either, but his stcok is dropping and I think we could still get him in the 2nd round if needed. Lawson won't make it out of the first round though.

Actually, Carpenter's stock is rising. Most places have him pegged in 1. I suspect if he does fall to 2, he won't make it past the 3-4 teams at the top of 2 (SF, Cleveland)

I agree...I think if we want him the best area is in the 25-31 range.....I think Pitt would be tempted to take him in addition to the teams you mentioned

I would be willing to bet a lot of money that if Parcells leaves next year, Jerry Jones will make certain the next coach will implement a 3-4 system. He is no fool.

Agree, I don't see JJ "starting over". If we do, in fact, go with OLB (like Lawson) in the 1st, that's a lot of money and high draft picks to simply switch schemes.

That said, I'd hope our new coach would implement the 3-4 and sprinkle in some 4-3 to give different looks - like what we currently do.

By the way, Lawson only looks skinny because his lower legs are well...skinny. His upper legs, torso and arms, however, are pretty normal for a 6'5", 245 LB.

I wouldn't be surprised to see NE show interest. Nice replacement for McGinest on the strong side. Belichick probably knows his old man too.

There is also talk of Cincy moving to the 3-4 and if they do, they'd be in the hunt as well.

LeBeau was practically gushing about Carpenter at his pro day.

Greenway is terribly overrated. He'd be OK in a 4-3, but I don't like him in the 3-4 at all.

Matter of opinion some scouts disagree with your assesment.

I said late 1st to 2nd rd we will see. I do know the guy is a good LB but like any draft pick he could be a bust or be a very good player. Same could be said for Lawson face it there are no guarantees no matter how much a fans may like a guy.

I like the idea of getting someone who can play either the 3-4 or 4-3.

It's important to look past this year because I doubt Parcells will return.

And it HAS to be up to the new coach to put in his schemes. Jerry really shouldn't dictate that (although he just might).

Remember, Jerry hired Coslet to run the West Coast offense, and fired him less than a year later.

I believe Ware can play RDE in a 4-3.

I don't know what they would do with a guy like Lawson in a 4-3.

Cowboys just need Manny Lawson to get up to 270 in 4 years maybe more and that's ain't asking much from a player that has his frame... Im hoping he can maintain his normal speed....

We should start a forum pool on what year the Cowboys will draft an offensive player with their first pick and what position...

Well 2 years ago our top pick in the draft was an offensive player, of course it was an early second.

270? Good Lord, man! There's no need in him getting that big. 250 is just fine. Maybe it was a typo.

Sinorice Moss = undersized or smurf WR. We don't need that.

Lawson, Moss, Watkins would solve nearly all our problems. Day two just snag those O/D line bodies.

What round do you guys think Thomas Howard will go in? I think he would be a better option at outside linebacker. He is faster than Lawson and is the same weight despite being three inches shorter. I think Howard would be a better fit if we would take the best available tackle after a trade down, and then snag him in the 2nd. Unlike Lawson, he has played linebacker throughout his college career so his learning curve will not be as great.
