Nice breakdown - I really thought some of these guys would have fallen further than they did. Having basically the top 7 go before their 3rd was a surprise. Tank or Johnson would have been the pick with their 4th, but just didn't work out that way.

However, love the Vaughn pick - just hope he can add some mass to his frame and size isn't an issue for him. Sproles who is the comp, was an inch taller and 15lbs heavier.

I was hoping for Rodriguez or Isreal. You'd think we'd have gone at least that route as a set up for 2024 without Pollard.

Maybe they fell in love with Deuce and figured he'd be Pollards replacement and they'd draft a larger back next draft. I dunno..
Rodriguez intrigued me and it will be interesting to see how his power running works in the NFL. His lack of giddyup may derail him, but man, he shows some pop.

My guess is that one or more of the RBs that went from 71 to 88 would have been a target at #90.
- I know they really liked Miller.

8 Bijan Robinson
12 Jahmyr Gibbs

26 Cowboys 1st
52 Zach Charbonnet (Combine Interview)

58 Cowboys 2nd
71 Kendre Miller (30-visit & Pro Day)
81 Tyjae Spears (Private Workout)
84 Devon Achane (Combine Interview)
88 Tank Bigsby (Combine Interview)

90 Cowboys 3rd
115 Roschon Johnson

129 Cowboys 4th
143 Israel Abanikanda (Combine Interview)
163 Chase Brown

169 Cowboys 5th
172 Eric Gray (Combine Interview)
176 Evan Hull

178 Cowboys 6th-1
193 Chris Rodriguez Jr.

212 Cowboys 6th-2
212 Deuce Vaughn
215 Zach Evans (30-visit)
Izzy in the 4th would’ve been a waaaaaaay better pick for us IMO.

The 2 RB's in the 4th round at 129 would have been better than the project DL guy.
I wouldn’t say he’s a project. Fehoko stepped up his game again in 2022, being named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year and earning his third first-team nod by accumulating 19 tackles for loss (tying for sixth in the FBS), nine sacks, 69 tackles and two forced fumbles in 12 starts.

He was hand picked by Floyd and Quinn

Probably character and/or medical...

From Brugler:
  • The character and medical vetting process will be imperative …
  • he was suspended twice as a senior in high school for “violating team rules” and missed three games, including the 2019 state championship game …
  • battled several injuries the past two seasons: missed six of the final seven games as a sophomore with a turf toe injury (October 2021);
  • missed one game as a junior with a hip injury (September 2022);
  • knocked out of the Alabama game with a concussion (November 2022);
  • sidelined for the NFL Scouting Combine with a left hamstring injury (March 2023).
When a 5 star transfers and then is still a back up that should tell one plenty.
Like getting engaged to someone fresh out of jail.

Deuce in R6 is such a phenomenal value. No way to complain there.

I was hoping to see one of Mims (wr) or Eric Gray (rb) drafted by the Cowboys. Gray is a very solid back, but Duece seems to have significantly more short area quickness.

Keep seeing this and wonder if people actually watch football.
Abanikanda has great top line speed but plays nowhere near as fast.
His vision is near non-existent.
A 5'10" and 215 body with high end speed sounds great but he's shown little no nuance of the position.

He ended 3 seasons with essentially half the yards from scrimmage Deuce had.

Shades of 2015. Strong class (at least then. Would up being so so) and need by value never lined up with our pick. Abanikanda probably lines up the best. And he may be the most talent runner outside of Robinson. But he is strictly a 2 down back

Yea, I watched him more than any RB I watched this year.

I don’t think you rush for 1400 yards and 20 TDs with zero vision…especially considering he was their entire offense.

I’m glad you didn’t take my EGray. I looked at his Youtube highlights and the more i read up on him, the more I like him. I think he will compliment Saquon very nicely….even hits the hole quicker than Saquon, who to me, lacks in that regard.

The only time I was rooting for a player to drop to Dallas was Tank Bisby in the 3rd round. And then he was selected two picks before Dallas was up. Very disappointed.

This is when I believe Dallas would not get a RB. Vaughn is a nice piece, but not the kind of player you rely to carry the running game.

If Dallas had Pollard, Bisby, and Jones I would be more confident in the running game. Dallas needs a player to take Elliott's toughness in the run game.

Theres literally games and clips of games with announcers commenting on his speed and how rarely he gets caught from behind. As fast as he ran at his pro day, one of the comments in bob mcginns scouting interview literally said the scout thought he would run faster given how fast he looks in games. not sure where this, "...plays nowhere as fast," opinion came from; but it couldn't be from watching football.

the no vision sentiment is one that has been regurgitated regularly and although its not completely unfounded, its lazy. It really seems to come from him not juking guys in the backfield like a bijan or saquon. his vision is more than fine when it comes to making one cut and evading tacklers in the open field. Lets not forget hes the youngest rb in the draft and has only 1 year of starting experience in college. His vision being, "non-existent existent," is so hyperbolic, it gives one a headache.

then finally, your last comment is deceiving and essentially undermines any opinion you may have. Vaugn had 651 carries and 116 receptions over his 37 games. Abani had 390 rushes and 38 receptions over 30 games. Thats 7 more games and nearly 350 more touches....hmmm I wonder why he had so many more yards from scrimmage. I mean come on...

is that watching football comment purely projection?
