Signed by Cowboys Cowboys re-sign Sam Williams

I would of rather moved on, but 3 million is basically nothing.

Mehh I don’t know why Williams gets so much hate. If Williams is your 4th best pass rusher and plays special teams he’s perfectly fine depth.

I think this fan base just massively overhyped Sam Williams from day 1 because Quinn liked him

I guess even Dan Quinn wasn't into him anymore - i figured he'd go there since he was a DQ special.

I have always believed that players who were drafted for their “potential” as a “project” should have 3-4 years to develop.

Sam Williams has had 4 years to show us something. He has never shown anything more than “potential”.

As the late great Darrell Royal once said, “Potential just means they ain’t done it yet.”

Thumbs down on this one.
Your point is valid, Bob. I see this as a move to fill a roster spot, not unlike having that 5th or 6th CB or WR - you hope that he doesn't have to play significant time.
He has made plays on special teams. I would rather they keep him over Goodwin for that purpose, with anything more that Parker can get out of him as a bonus.

I don't get why so many are "up in arms" with this signing. Depth/ Rotational piece at best. Its not like he's getting 50+ snaps a game
Some fans believe that if the bottom third of your roster aren't Probowl players, then no sense in signing them.
I'd prefer bringing him back over going after another Kenneth Murray.

You guys pick and chose when Parker is the man lol. One minute he has all this say on coaches and players soon as it’s someone you don’t like now it’s Jerry again…

That dude is fine you guys still caught up over something he did 3 years ago let it go lol.
Yeah hes fine.

Hasnt been a bust at all.

You are right. We all dont know what we are talking about.

And I'm fine with signing other team's talented but disappointing players to $3 million contracts.

It’s not the money, it’s the roster spot.. Need an upgrade.

I get a kick out of people justifying boneheaded players because of their contract.
They will keep the best guys coming out of camp. They had six edge players on the roster last year counting Sam. They don't have six right now.

I think this is a good move by the Cowboys. Williams was starting to play better at the end of last season and I think it took time to recover from his knee injury where he missed the entire 2024 season.

1 year, $3 million is not much and this is a potentially high reward signing. Sam is just depth, which they need at DE.

In all seriousness. They will still need to either sign another free agent. There are still other good options out there. Or one of the firsts has to be an edge. There are a bunch of good edge prospects too.

So we need one or the other. Or even both
As far as Sam is concerned. I joke but it’s whatever. It’s a small contract and he can be cut if he doesn’t earn a roster spot.

No big deal IF the front office treats it as “this is a fringe roster guy who has to earn it”

And not “we really like Sam and think he’s gonna turn things around and be our guy”

Sam is worth $3 million. That's not saying much but he's worth $3 million.
Especially with a new DC and staff that may be able to light a fire....that, and playing for another contract.....I don't know why this isn't a good thing, he's making 3rd string money.....maybe he needs a podcast.

Guys who lead the league in pressures and make all pro get to have podcasts.

Guys with 1 sack don’t.
