Signed by Cowboys Cowboys re-sign Sam Williams

when they put out a message that CP was looking to do some things with williams i knew he was getting resigned. I think he feels he can unlock something in him. and Williams is banking on it this year so he can maximize a payday next year. good to have rotation guys.

EDGE OLB: Gray, EZ, Williams is a good 3 may rotation. we will need 1 more either FA or Draft. I prefer FA and get best Available in draft so you dont have to reach. i dont think they are done yet.

i think stephen thinks he can unlock something once he deploys his secret sauce he talks about.

Loool, I literally called this exact year and amount.

I’m fine with it. That’s basically minimum wage in today’s NFL.
Yes it is but has this guy registered one stat in his entire career? All good tho

I wouldn’t be stunned to see him grab 6 sacks and get a good contract on potential

Maybe he has a sense of humor.....

It was kind of a play on the old jimmy johnson quote. About how if a crappy player falls asleep in a meeting they get cut. If Aikman fell asleep in a meeting, Jimmy would bring him a pillow.

Then why did you write with him signing we now need LBs ?
If you can't discern what an edge rusher is then I don't know what to tell you. 3-4 OLB and 4-3 DE are considered edge rushers.

The LBs I am referring to are ILB/MLB.

Didn't think that even needed to be explained.

Carry on.

Posters do this thing where they want to catch you in a mistake and instead of admitting they misunderstood they’d rather make you out to be wrong. I knew exactly what you meant.

i only keep sam williams under this condition:

theee coach @Ranching agrees to work with him and teach him better techniques to get to the QB. We will get Coog to act as an OT or sometimes maybe a blocking back. Coach has to make it happen.

He’s a knucklehead but for this price, I am OK with it. He’s clearly got some skills and maybe a switch to a 3-4 hybrid helps him?

For 3MM bucks, I can live with it. At that price I can set my expectations low.

He is not a great player, but this is a great deal. I wrote in another thread that he may be back as a role player. At 3 million, he can be an experienced backup. He may fit what CP does better than as a 4-3 DE. He was one of the best special teams guys on the team. If he continues making big plays on special teams and serves as a backup or even emergency role player, that’s a good signing. I’m sure they are no longer hoping he turns into a starting edge rusher.

It’s all coming together now.

My guess is this has to do with EZ's hip surgery. They wanted a cheap fallback option if he's slow to return.

I can't think of any other justification.
May be right. He’s cheap so cheap insurance. But he also might be more effective in this new system. Having multiple options to be the 4th rusher makes the oline hsve to adjust after the snap. If you really mix it up you could have a different 4th rusher coming on each snap.
