Cowboys Record with Tyron Smith Starting Since 2016

I’ve said this before the Cowboys need an OT in any of the first three rounds next April .

That's why many wanted Rashawn Slater in the draft.

Can't regret drafting Parsons cause he is a beast but some of us was saying Slater was the best LT in the draft, even over Sewell....... and we were right

Your Micah Parsons hate has already been noted.

I was reading that article someone linked the other day with current 2021 draft grades trying to see in hindsight if there was anyway we could have drafted Micah Parsons and traded up for one of the better performing OTs drafted in the late first round! I'm greedy, I want both. :D

Without losing the other draft picks in that draft.....i would have loved to get Parsons and Slater

I wanted Slater over any of the CB’s talked about but Parsons is special . One of the few bright spots in the D today .

Talk about a draft if we did that. Hard to tell the needs next year with so many starters as free agents, but I'm leaning either line or corner in the first, and tightend if we can't sign Schultz.

Shout out to all those Terence Steele is yeehaw awesome campaigners.

He's a career backup.

No he's a right tackle. Switching sides is like asking us to do everyday life with our non-dominant hand all day long. For most people it's very difficult.

Gotta be Collins IMO…. He is a natural lefty and is most comfortable on the left side. Try him there until Tyron can come back— let Steele hold down RT.
No he’s not! If you were here in Louisiana, there were multiple calls into the radio shows weekly of fans wanting to move him to the right side because he didn’t have the lateral quickness to play the left side. There’s a reason why draft reports projected him to right tackle and gaurd! Collins relies on power and has slow feet. Always has!

I try not to link certain positions in a round. Just grab best player available. That's how Lamb and Parsons got on the team

Dallas squashed BPA in the draft for Smith, because Flozell Adams was gone. When Adams went down in 2005, the Cowboys OL allowed in like 10 games over 40 sacks. Jerry has known the value of LT going back to the Adams days. He’s going to do everything in his power to look to prioritize an elite replacement.

You got me interested, I honestly can't remember everyone who played it. So went back into the archives for all the Jerry years.

1989-1996..... Tuey (God bless the man, if he were still alive, there's a great mentor for Steele. No one gave Tuey a shot either when he came in the league, and he left known as the baddest mofo on the line)
1997.............. George Hegamin (oops)
1998............... Larry Allen (We have a Zack to save us if needed. :p )
1999-2009..... Flozell the Hotel (other than 2005 when we had Torrin Tucker during his injuries, Parcells still got us a 9-7.... Flozell and Gurode have to be 2 of the most underrated Cowboys, great linemen sorry teams)
2010-2011....... Doug Free (this is probably the most realistic Steele comparison? of what might be?)
2012 to Now.... Tyron the Beast!

He makes a massive difference and you can tell just by watching the pocket. Want to see a massive difference an Oline makes? Go look at the first couple years of Mahomes career compared to this year. Kid looks pretty pedestrian behind a below average Oline after going to 2 Super Bowls and being the media’s next “GOAT”

I think a left tackle should be a priority in the upcoming draft..

I thought Collins was the right guy to play there
Helping one guy isn’t that hard
Having one playing the first time in months and another a new position seemed like a bad move
Just put Collins at LT, help him out and let him get settled in
Steele has played very well but asking a guy still learning RT to move or a guy who’s played left guard and is more comfortable on the left side anyway seemed like the most logical move
I trust our oline coach had his reasons and he knows more than I do but just seemed like a more logical solution to me

You can't just replace Tyron. You need a long term plan to draft or sign the right guy to replace him. The Cowboys are not drafting in the top 10 in 2022, but maybe later in round 1 someone may fall. I do not think his replacement is on this team right now though. I said two years ago the Cowboys needed to start looking at drafting Tyron's eventual replacement even if that guy was going to play OG until Tyron's time is up.

Some people wanted to draft Slater who is proving to be a stud a LT for the Chargers. Maybe that was the right move, but how bad would this defense be without Parsons? Perhaps taking Slater then Ojulari in the 2nd would have been better. Then Tyron could start at LG and Slater on the right. Collins goes back to LG. With Tyron out Slater moves over to the left. Collins goes to the right and Connor Williams comes back in at LG.

But where they are now they had better consider the possibility of stop babying him. Supposedly against the Vikings, he thought he could finish the game but the coaches wanted him out as a precaution. Playing it too safe? Reports are he has bone spurs in his ankle. They hurt but is he in danger of worse injury? I doubt it. So next week shoot him up and get him on the field. I will be the farm he wants to play.

I get the feeling Dallas is too cautious with injuries because they have a big lead in the division and they want to save players for the playoffs. Save that for the few games at the end of the regular season that don't mean anything. But win as many games as quickly as possible until wins don't matter anymore. The NFL can change too rapidly. Just win first.
