Cowboys refrain from splash pick and go with need

Boys and girls, practice gonna be spicy again lol.. .. imagine those practice fights , camp fights. That's what sets a standard or culture. The gladiator stuff that we don't get to see, but happens behind the curtain. Smith and Booker ,Beebe, even Hoffman...those dudes all think the same. They want to set a tone, a standard, make no mistake, they aim to punish you. We also have a line coach that teaches that.

With all due respect with after acquiring 3 offensive guards plus Bass, Hoffman and who knows if Coach Riley would put Beebe back at guard with his familiarity with him, there was no reason whatsoever based on need.
Second to this position group is the current tight ends on the roster and their varying skillsets.
As 2 groups they are not all garbage and quite capable of being both effective starters and backups with added coaching.

What this team needed was run stopping DT to address its most desperate need. Mazi is a failed project.
That pick went one pick after the Cowboys in the form of Kenneth Grant.
Tyler Booker can not stop the run.
Heck at the barest minimum, if OL, they should have went LT and took Simmons.
The reports are that his medicals are clear.

Truly truly poor pick.
They're gonna attempt the Linehan 2016 offense and possibly achieve early success.
Then when opponent defenses stack the box and force SleepNumber to beat them we all know the ending.

Trench selection was the right mindset.
The position chosen was a major failure.

Cowboys refrain from maximizing value of #12 overall pick.

If the Cowboys were picking at #25 I wouldn't really be that critical

Apparently picking #12 was no big deal and they plan on doing it often.

Maybe the RB and WR splash picks they wanted were of the board. I'd gladly add WR Luther Burden or RB Henderson in 2nd round.

So, now that I've had a good night's sleep, I am more receptive to the Booker pick. I admit, last night, I was quite underwhelmed with it. But, it actually makes a lot of sense to grab the best guard in the draft. And now we have 3 Tyler's on the line!! The Great Wall of Tylers!! LOL
I'm sure the fanbase will learn to love this pick when they see Booker and Bebee (duo block) put Jalen Carter on skates and dump him into the LB's laps.

Not while Mazi continues to get prison raped up the gut.
Well, I agree...to a point. Controlling the time of possession and keeping the defense of the field will only help keep Mazi from being continuously raped. Plus, the draft is far from over and getting that upgrade at DT1 is still a high possibility.

Just seems like a replay of the 2016 theme.
Dominant run game at first but once opponents loaded the box the current QB could not make them pay.

All the while this is going on it could be argued that the weakness of the 2016 defense was just as responsible for failure as Dak's ineptitude.

I already know he can't win even with a stellar o line.
So, might as well try and see what the impact of having a stellar d line can produce.

That's my thinking.
