I can't believe we are going to lose a game or 2 because we don't have an NFL caliber kicker on the team.

I too am surprised how little emphasis the Cowboys seem to have in the K position. You would think they would have learned from this:

• The margin of victory in the NFL is 3 points, putting a premium on the quality your team’s K.
• The Cowboys lost 3 games in 2021 by 3 points or less. In each game our K Greg Zuerleine missed 1-2 FGs that could have tied or won the game. In 2022 we saw Brett Maher go through 2 games in the playoffs where making an XP, much less a FG was not a given

This team has gone years without really getting serious about a quality K.

Greg the leg wasn't healthy that year. Oxnard is a bad place to kick. Maher had a good year last year. That field at Tampa was awful. They also had some issues with the snaps.

Sorry, but that’s a very poor excuse. Kickers have to deal with all kinds of conditions. If he’s struggling in training camp during a competition, he’s in real trouble. It won’t be just AT&T he’ll be kicking at. Viscaino looks like he’s not going to be around very long.

These older guys miss XP, everyone misses a 2-3 a year since they the moved it back. Is it still a chip shot FG yes but you still need to put a little leg and lift into it. Ideally you want a guy that make FG in the mid to upper 80% and makes XP in the 95+% range.

I’ve never heard anyone say that but you and it’s at least the second time. Lol Kicking in Oxnard never had any affect on Dan Bailey. Brett Maher had no problems kicking at Oxnard.
