As much as I want to continue to hype Gallimore, it's becoming significantly harder to do. Each individual in the current DT group had every opportunity to thrive in a poor group overall yet Gallimore struggled to even stay active on gamedays. Maybe there is more to that story than I know, but it's a pretty bad sign overall. The guy is a decent interior pass rusher, but hasn't improved an ounce when it comes to playing the run.

I'm thinking it's time I admit I swung and missed on this one.

INB4 we draft a DT, to cut him and lose him to waivers to just cut Gallimore around the TDL.

Although, it would be fitting for him to "ascend" in his contract year.

I mean you can be effective as a DT if you just cut block the offensive lineman or turn sideways and fall and have lineman fall or trip over you

why?
because it clogs up the hole and makes the RB have a momentary studder giving the defense time to get him it also keeps LBs clean

you just cant get blown off the ball

There was once a time when this statement had some truth to it, but the NFL has evolved into a finesse game with zone run schemes. Backs are too good at that quick one read and cut style that hasn't eliminated but changed the idea of the big run stuffers.
