There were posters here telling me that not getting a full night's rest in your bed following a football game and leading to a Thursday afternoon game is no big deal. Or that it wouldn't even happen that way with way too optimistic arrival times back to Texas.

Truth of the matter it is. The quality of Thursday games since their inception speaks to something missing... Either a lack of preparation (practice) or a lack physical preparedness just of the body.

The Cowboys got a very raw deal here with the prime time game.

No excuses but I'll be interested to see how we come out of the gate.

The Eagles have a short week to and it's a road game for them. And they're 2-3 on the road this year.

The most important night for rest is two nights before the game. That's tonight. So the "rest" issue isn't an issue. It's a matter of getting your body right. And they lose three days of that.

Any statistical evidence to back that up?

And what about the effect on the mind and body during today's practice?

The fact of the matter is... From a rest and preparation standpoint. Advantage Eagles.

All short weeks are not created equal. This is about as "unfair" as it comes.

Again no excuses but as a an athlete in my day I'd not be happy about this.

A lot of research these days on sleep and performance in sports. Most notably for nba players and back to back games which this is the football equivalent of.

The Cowboys have been doing this for YEARS, so the routine has been passed down, they know what it is all about. And what to do, and how to handle it.
But do the younger players, which this team is. So this will be a test to the coaching staff and the trainers.

Yes the night game does not help much, and the Eagles had a home game against a poor team. But they travel on Wednesday. I hope there is a snow storm and they get delayed, and can't fly in until Thursday morning, sitting on the plane all night.....j/k.....

We had a bye before the giants game so how did we come out?

Slow

Under Garrett we usually come out slow

Please stop making excuses

But that the norm for you unfortunately

I have an 8:30 AM flight on Wednesday. That means I have to be at the airport by at least seven. It takes 90 mins at least to get there, so I guess I'll be waking up around 4AM. Thanksgiving is going to be rough. Flying can be awfully draining.

What time was the practice on Monday?

Is there TSA level security on NFL charter flights?

They need every edge they can garnish because we are slowly building momentum here..

Cowboys win...

No doubt the short week is hard, players have less time to recover from the bumps and bruises from the Sunday Night game, practice is altered so it throws them out of their normal routine but this franchise has been doing this since 1966 this is not new. I'm looking forward to the game and I have no doubts the Cowboys will be ready to go.

I agree but it is what it is. Players got back home had a walk through yesterday and will have a full practice today. I'm not concerned if they got enough sleep, by now they have. This is a big game and I expect the Cowboys to go into this game extremely pumped up.

I can't either, been late afternoon games, but not night games.

I would not doubt this scheduling happens again next year or year after. Depending the outcome of the game.
We win, it won't happen, meaning the NFL agenda did not work
Eagles win, it will happen next year, meaning the NFL agenda worked.

I blame the Mara / Goodell tag team against us.

NFL agenda? lol I'm sorry but no one is out to get us. Hell Dallas is one of the top rating teams in the NFL they make money for the NFL. No one is out to get us. The scheduled worked out this way and the Cowboys will deal with it

Thursday games are not good for the players as far as preparation, and recovery time. The NFL is speaking with forked tongue when they claim to be concerned about player safety, yet they have a full slate of Thanksgiving games.

Are the Cowboys at a disadvantage this week? Yes. So were the Broncos earlier this season when they played a Sunday night/Thursday nigh schedule (both were at home), as were the Saints (who played a Sunday night at home and a Thursday night on the road). Dems the breaks. Complaining about it doesn't change it.

Then again, the Cowboys have 10 days after the Bear game to prepare for the rematch against the Eagles. Consider the advantage to be with Dallas in that area.

I agree, they had all day Monday and Monday night to recover and rest, get some sleep, and back to normal on Tuesday.
They are used to a routine, and this week just a bit different. But I am sure at KO, all that goes out the window, and time to play.

I think they came out flat Sunday night, took a half to get going. A typical bye week performance. But those juices are still flowing and they will be ready to go for Thursday, full speed ahead.
