You and I or the team...I'm not mad, just disappointed......I thought we had something special.
Do you know how bad that entire offense was with Rodgers?Well, I don't know how much you watched Hall last year but I watched him a lot and can tell you my Jet fan friends were hoping they traded him if they got good value. No burst. Not the same player. Not worth a 2nd round pick. Jet's fans wanted Hall and Allen to be in kind of a split last year. If the Breece Hall from 2022 was on the market, sure. Might he bounce back this year, of course, but he wasn't great last year and you don't give up a 2nd round pick for a player whose value is only elite based on his burst and who didn't have it.
Since his knee. How many games has he missed? What's my point? He has INJURY CONCERNS....as in he's prone to get hurt....with a QB who is prone to get hurt, a hurt secondary.....not sure you want to be in the business of another hurt guy...
You simply did not watch the Jets if you think Hall's burst was there. I have no issue with the opinion that Hall will bounce back or that he was worth or not worth "x" in a trade or that we are better with him or not, BUT his burst was absolutely 100% not the same as it was before the injury. That's just not even a debate.Do you know how bad that entire offense was with Rodgers?
Do you know how many touchdowns were taken away from Hall because Rodgers is an absolute moron?
Hall's burst was there, that entire team was just a dumpster fire.
Its not about the "missed games"......look at his production.....Since his knee. How many games has he missed?
And it won't be, I don't think. I've noticed with a lot of these running backs, they never return to their rookie year burst. I argue with people that an RB's prime is his rookie contract. Not all, there are some exceptions, but RB is the one position me a guy comes in already in the prime of his career. He won't get any better from there. Production may get better, but as a player, he will get worse from there. You simply did not watch the Jets if you think Hall's burst was there. I have no issue with the opinion that Hall will bounce back or that he was worth or not worth "x" in a trade or that we are better with him or not, BUT his burst was absolutely 100% not the same as it was before the injury. Probably those 1st and 2nd rounders who produced was because they were 1st and 2nd rounders and given the ball from day 1.Agreed. Here is a little more statistical information when it comes to finding quality backs
Last season, four of the top six RBs in rushing yards were 1st round picks. the other two were 2nd round picks.
The teams for four of those six top RBs went to the playoffs. The worst record for a team that had a top six RB was 8-9. Their average record for the six teams is 11.33-5.66.
A running game is like a machine. The parts include the offensive line, the RB, and blocking receivers. it doesn't matter if only one or two aspects are elite if the other lacks the same standard. The machine only works as well as it's weakest part.
On a sidenote, too little has been said about the blocking skills of Michael Irvin. Michael was a powerful and passionate blocker that could intimidate a DB. I sometimes worried about his level of violence when celebrating a TD with his teammates.
Anyway, the stats point to the importance of a quality RB in conjunction with the skill level of the O-line.
Please don't push me away......give us a chance for something real. You and I or the team...![]()
Let me ask you a question. Its not about the "missed games"......look at his production.....
He didn't miss any last year, or maybe he missed, but what's alarming is his production. He had his lowest per average last year, 5 fumbles lost....biggest run was 42 yards, which was the lowest of his short career....
He does not look like the same back he was coming in pre injury.....
And I'm not even against seeing what he has, but I certainly don't knock people for not wanting him or wanting to trade compensation for him. Why trade for Hall when you can get an RB with fresh legs? You don't trade for running backs unless they are Saquon or Henry.
Only Calvin Hill started for game #1 his rookie season. Don Perkins retired before the season.Probably those 1st and 2nd rounders who produced was because they were 1st and 2nd rounders and given the ball from day 1.
Everything I hear or read about the RB squad includes Vaughn but excludes Mafah. He is fast becoming my pet cat.Nobody disrespects Phil Mafah and lives to talk about it.
Like I said, most #1 and #2 picks get lots of opportunities. You tried to hide that fact for some reason.Only Calvin Hill started for game #1 his rookie season. Don Perkins retired before the season.
Not even HOFers Tony Dorsett and Emmitt Smith were given the ball on day #1
Tony Dorsett became the starter at game #10. he had 4 carries in game #1
Emmitt Smith became the starter for game #2. he had 2 carries for game #1
Duane Thomas became the starter for the Cowboys in game #5 his rookie year and only because Calvin Hill was injured. He had zero carries for game #1
In all cases, these RBs became the starters because they were the best RB on the team.
No, I was simply pointing out that they got more opportunities because they were better than any other RB the Cowboys had.Like I said, most #1 and #2 picks get lots of opportunities. You tried to hide that fact for some reason.
No, all teams give their 1st and 2nd rounders and even 3rd rounders every opportunity to prove themselves. No, I was simply pointing out that they got more opportunities because they were better than any other RB the Cowboys had.
They proved it in training camp, the preseason games and every opportunity they had before they were named the starter.
Can you think of any Cowboys RB that was better than Emmitt in 1990? How about Dorsett in 1977?
There have been cases where RBs were drafted in the 1st round that wasn't the starter in their rookie seasons. Felix Jones didn't start a game until his 2nd season.
Their draft status had nothing to do with it. The talent that was responsible for their draft status had everything to do with it.
Rico Dowdle and Jaydon Blue would have made for an excellent 1-2 punch. We could have kept Rico for the same price as Javonte WIlliams + Sanders. That would have 100% made us a better football team.
