The Cowboys selected White with the 216th overall pick in the sixth round. Earlier in the round, the Cowboys traded away the 211th pick to New England in exchange for Nos. 216 and 239.

White (6-0, 194 pounds) allowed only one touchdown over his last two seasons as cornerback for the Seminoles.

He is the fourth defensive back that the Cowboys have drafted so far. The defensive backfield is a huge area of need for the team after it lost four starters in free agency.

"Finesse cornerback with limited ball skills and production as two-year starter. Coverage stats from junior season garnered attention, but his 2016 tape was average, with marginal instincts and coverage inconsistencies from press. Length is a plus and he does have talent, but he needs technique work to iron out some issues."

At this stage in the draft that the highest rated player 100% regardless of position.

Worry about the numbers in TC

Dane Brugler rated him a 4th/5th round value.
Awuzie and Lewis both 2nd rounders.

Switzer a 4th rounder

Woods a 3rd/4th rounder.

So you can see the value was at DB just like Dallas told us and the world.

Likely that a DB was best value every round after 1 on our board.

Hmm...out DB's now go 11 deep now with Brown, OScan, Carroll, Awuzie, Lewis, Byron, Heath, Blanton, Woods, Frazier and now White. And I really like the fact that Byron is pretty much the only 1 that won't be competing for playing time

Reading Brugler's writeup on this kid he reminds me of Dwayne Harris, the WR we drafted late. He had all he skills but didn't have the physical frame to hold up in the NFL. He spent a year on the PS learning the system and hitting the weights hard - then became a very good player for the Cowboys. Marquez White seems like a similar pick.

Likely insurance in case Lewis isn't available or Scandrick is out... Will take a lot though for White to make the team as the 6th corner....

Now we understand hwy they openly tried to trade OScan as crappy as that is.
Might even just release him if no trades occur.
On one hand I hate it for him as he proved an excellent value and good player but on the other he lives in LA full-time and is on periphery of that reality TV lifestyle.
He might enjoy playing for the Rams.
