In hindsight. At least with Taco there was hope at the draft. They had hit on DLaw, maybe they could hit the jackpot twice. With Jaylon you knew he wouldn't help in 2017, and never knew if he'd even play again

Got to give the Cowboys the benefit of the doubt on this one. Wright is a scheme fit, and with his length and reach he will narrow those windows in zone.
The kid has a nose for the ball and we all know how much we suck at getting turnovers. His instincts and anticipation are his strengths.

PFF had his passer rating against last year as just 18.0 when in zone.
 
I'm sure all GM's and scouting directors have their noses pressed up against the TV screen while listening to all the analysts and their opinions. How else would they know who to draft? How many times did these TV experts meet in person with these players, how intensely did they question them, how much effort did they put in interviewing coaches, fellow players, even family members?

What secret information do these TV experts conceal to their advantage over other analysts?

Somebody that did not have the level of access that NFL scouts have scored Wright low. This "somebody" doesn't get paid to be right, their job doesn't depend on the success of these players, they have nothing to lose, their credibility takes a temporary hit and they continue to express opinion without accountability.

It would be interesting if drafts were reviewed five years later and, if an analyst was incorrect to a particular degree, they would be fired. I bet you would hear fewer opinions. There probably wouldn't be such thing as a "big board".

It was said that most teams are increasing their board this year to include 190 draftable players instead of the usual 150. There’s 256 players drafted which means a lot are already crossed off. “Media scouts” do a big board of 300. They can’t do the level of detail with any of them the way the pros can. It’s obvious on draft weekend they don’t have the medicals which causes guys to fall.
 
Maybe he works out two years from now . But why draft him today? When highly likely he's there late tomorrow... ***

Lol we are reaching out ahead of a couple rounds at least now. To think we could have used this pick to move up and get a good quality player. Let that sink in and wonder why we haven't won anything.

Exactly which is why McClay might as well just up and leave. It's obvious they don't listen to his draft board but yet listen to another old senile defensive coordinator past his prime.

Agree. He's reminds me of a blade of grass as far as size goes and his change of direction is like a box turtle sitting on a fence post. Looks like we are taking the warm body approach to this draft. With all these pics available why did we sit on our hands and not move up. We are going to have 3rd an 4th round players who will be cut at the end of camp because of a lack of talent.
 
incredible length and soft hands, plays the high point nicely..I have no idea who the guy is but like his tape.
