Lawrence should give the clubs defense a boost. He has talent and did get 8 sacks last season he should continue to improve. He is the one on the list with the most upside.

Left out Hanna who's blocking has been sorely missed--back week 7, I think.

Also, DE Davis should be active for Chicago.

Davis is a big one for me. Our pass rush sucks, so any help there is huge for me.

Depends on Nzeocha

I don't think so. McClain has sealed his own fate. He doesn't want to play football anymore. This team could have ten guys on the field, with nobody playing MLB, and they still wouldn't bring McClain back. He's burned his bridges and pee'ed on the ashes.

I am bullish on #2.

Part of that might be solely hope because I can't watch Hitchens anymore.

Im glad we got Durant back, and I'm still in the camp of we should have never cut Bruce Carter and Durant from what I see on the field

We didn't cut either one. They became free agents and left for much greener pastures. And in the case of both, the team's that overpaid them quickly realized that and cut them. It's actually a feather in this team's gap that it wasn't them.

Like going to the doctor, and getting a shot in the arm, the Cowboys may start getting "WELL" soon. Here are your shots that can have varying levels of benefit to the Cowboys team:

1. Lawrence. This addition can be a significant upgrade over what we currently have, and give us a fresh body to rotate at DE. It also keeps us from having to weaken the DT position by bumping a player out there. It enables the rotational backup to be fresh and "sell out" to go get a sack in limited playing time.

2. Nzoacha. This shot could be huge. He seemed to be a play making machine in preseason. He supposedly has very good athleticism, which we are hurting on at linebacker right now by using Hitchens. Hitchens is a very good backup, but that's about all and is aliability against the pass. This one might end up being an upgrade that rivals Lawrence's return for the most important return.

3. Gregory. No, we can't count on him returning, but right now he is eligible to play the last two regular season games and the playoffs. He will be rusty, but the good news is he will be physically healthy. As a situational pass rusher, he might create a much needed spark. The bright side is that he probably will be drug free for the first time in a while. My guess is Jerry gets a full time babysitter for him.

4. McClain. He is another player you can't count on, but if we are losing because of linebacking play, who is to say that Jerry won't suck it up and play him the rest of this year and then move on from him when the off season comes around. The lack of a locker at the Star might mean he is gone already, or just be motivational, but no one really knows which at this point.

5. Tapper. Talented player with upside. If he can actually play this one might give us more options than we thought we would have. Suddenly, we actually have some depth if he is healthy and this pick pans out. I think the fact that we kept him off of IR indicates that we believe he will substantially contribute.

6. McFadden. He might help the defense via trade to a running back needy team. He is good, and expendable. He is reasonably priced so a trade involving him could happen, for a reasonably valued return for both teams.

1. Lawrence obviously is the key. So far, offensive lines are doubling the inside guys and leaving the DE's one on one and we aren't winning. Lawrence will eat single blocking up.

2. Nzeocha gives us the best option at LB where we currently have Gachkar or Wilber. Nzeocha, Lee and Durant are the best three we can put on the field.

3. Ryan Davis is a much better hope than Gregory. He should have a little pass rush juice. Again, Wilber is not the answer as a spot pass rusher.

4. Tapper has to be getting close to being ready. If not, let's consider McCain or Moore off of the practice squad.

5. Return of Hanna gives us a better blocking option....I think his return probably boots Escobar off the team. He is the one getting the least action presently.

Our trade bait of Leary and McFadden. Obviously with McFadden he can't come back till week 6 so he won't be tradeable until then I believe. Leary should be traded for a solid player or pick. He isn't going to play at all unless there is an injury to a guard. Looney is gameday interior reserve and Green the tackle swingman.

Lawrence may be the best DE on the team, but that's not saying much. He's an average, 8 sack a year guy. He will be an improvement, but not a difference maker by any stretch.

Rolondo is finished.
Gregory is too, at least for this year. Maybe for good.
I wouldn't rely on Tapper. His injury is a big ?

Agreed. The club has finally got past the idea of overpaying FA's...lt killed the team for years. That is one of the positives in recent years. Stephens input??

Hope for sale..............get it while it's hot.

I hate negative Nancy's but I'm gonna be one.

Lawrence had Hardy's help last year.

I haven't seen anything that screams elite DE out of the guy. Hope he improved over the off-season.

I really don't see much of an improvement, overall, when he comes back

JMO, of course.

P.S. - They should try and convert Traylor to DE..............he still around?

Well. You could well be right. I will take heat for saying it...but l liked Hardy and thought his loss hurt the defense.

Nzeocha is by far the most athletic LB on the roster. Just need to get him on the field

It's like Jerry himself created that list to sell more tickets and pizzas.
