With limited time, Trufant finished 2019 as PFF’s 32nd ranked cornerback (Chris Harris Jr. was 34th). All things considered there are far worse options for the Cowboys to be looking at.

Desmond Trufant played almost 100 games with the Falcons since they took him in the first round seven years ago. Over that time he amassed 13 career interceptions.

I love this! 4 picks last year and 7pbu’s in only 9 games. He’s a solid starting nfl #1 CB and he’s affordable. Let’s beat Washington twice in FA!

Still a solid boundary corner and has familiarity with Mike Nolan. His strength is press coverage, which the Cowboys may employ more of of judging by Nolan as DC and Al Harris as a DB coach. Good fit depending on the money. Will turn 30 in September so not quite "over the hill" yet.

What you didn't say is in the last 4 seasons he only played the entire season once. Three seasons he missed games with injuries, two of which including last season he missed 7 games. Now at 29 but will be 30 when the season starts and having a repeated injury history the past 4 seasons I don't think he would be wisest signing. Also there must be some reason that the falcons released him with 3 years left on his contract. Yes he doesn't have any more guaranteed money, but if he was still a CB that could be counted on why would they release him.

It scares me to be competing for a player with Washington because they spend recklessly and will likely jack up his asking price.
Yup only downside to this situation. Hopefully the fact that we are better at literally every aspect of a franchise than them and Texas craps on VA in taxes sways his decision.

And maybe he liked working with Mike Nolan?

Don't see the Skins breaking the bank on him. They have a decision to make on Dunbar.

It’s going to take at least 10 million a year. I’m in but who knows what that front office thinks.
