Signed by Cowboys Cowboys sign CB Cobie Durant

Don't know him but still glad we signed a cb. Can't understand at all why they didnt sign any lbers though. Feel they needed to sign at least 2 in fa.
They aren't done. They can sign a free agent or make a trade and still have the draft.

How is the D-line worse?
Lost OSA and Thomas, only gained a NT…..lost bodies and need more now, while having other needs too. It likely had to be done since we are switching to a 3-4, but we are still short players.

One of the better signings they have made.

If this team is able to add a LB and another edge rusher I would give this free agency a grade of B-plus. I wanted Jerry and Cap Boy to do more, but as far as what they have done, I cannot be mad.

I mean we still suck with him last year lol. Jordan Lewis wasn’t irreplaceable. They just didn’t do anything. Bland should’ve been good enough to go back to nickel but he had his own issues.
Nobody said he was irreplaceable. The entire team sucked last yr, but that's not the point. In order to content for championships you need tough, smart ballers who don't fold in the Crucials.

In my opinion this is a huge part of the culture change that's needed on this team.

Apologies if this was already posted, but here is what a Rams insider had to say about Durant landing in Dallas:

"Cobie Durant was one of the most consistent cornerbacks in an inconsistent secondary for the Rams in 2025. He emerged as a ball hawker, pulling in 3 INTs, including 1 pick-6.

He is fesity in coverage, allowing just 41 of 72 passes to be completed. He is a workhorse, a player who loves to grind. Best of all, on a one-year prove-it deal, he'll prove himself quickly."

Durant, Bland, Revel, Thompson, Locke, Hooker, Bell. Sort it out and put the best five on the field. I have a feeling that with the new scheme ability to process will be important.

this guy is betting on himself. One year deal to go out there and show the league what he has got. IF he does it, this contract is pocket change to what he will get.
Its a gamble but I like the temperament of someone betting on himself

Ideally; for sure. But if the board gets totally wiped out, I wouldn’t rule it out.
He is a plug and play starter with a lot to like. Some question is coverage abilities, but I think he can cover enough to be a 3 down player.

I’m not convinced he makes it to 20 tbh. Colbinations of Character and skills and a weak class make me think he could go between 13-19

If he was playing purely the slot, I agree. If he's in the slot 80-85% and outside 20-15%, then it's just what you pay your top corner no matter where he aligns.

We wanted our top corner to play slot last year because it was one of the more important position in Eberflus's scheme. Seems to be the same in Parker's from what he has said.
Plus, he was recovering from an injury which didn't help.

Edge and LB at 12 and 20. No need to reach for a CB now.
Still a need at corner. Durant only has a one year deal. He could start but who knows if Bland can stay healthy and if Revel can be the guy the Cowboys hope. If an elite corner prospect is there at 12 I am still taking him.

I am getting the sense that linebacker position is being earmarked for the draft. They still will add some sort of bridge type of veteran, but the linebacker class is real good this year. I keep on telling many, don't be surprised if CJ Allen from Georgia is our Booker pick this year. He actually was calling their defense and we hired his positional coach from Georgia on our staff.
Uzo-Diribe was the OLB coach, not the inside guy. But I'm sure he has familiarity with him. I would be concerned about Allen's coverage ability though. Not sure he's a fit there.
