Signed by Cowboys Cowboys sign DE Dante Fowler

Who? Fowler? Maybe he gets more reps, but I think our run-down ends are Kneeland and Turner, so he'll come in on passing downs. It will be interesting to see how we deploy Parsons, Fowler and Williams. Not all three can play end at the same time. At this point, though, I don't know how many reps Williams is going to deserve.

I can't imagine Turner starting anywhere. Our starting DEs will be Micha and whoever between Sam Williams, Kneeland, Fowler.

Fowler isn't a run stopper but I'd put him in the mix for starters reps because of his pay alone. I have no idea what to expect of Sam Williams, or how to project Kneelands growth.

Maybe its Parsons and Kneeland, but I think at Fowlers contract he's going to be on the field a lot.

But you were promoting his 10.5 sacks ..... I just asked if he was not good enough 2 years ago ...... did any of those guys you mentioned have 10.5 sacks other than Parsons?

I was commenting on the randomness of this front office ...... their plans change on the whim of a narcissistic GM and Owner who thinks he is the smartest football mind in the room.

I mean, he brought back Zeke. I'm not arguing that.

Dante Fowler, who was with the Cowboys in 2022 and 2023, re-joined the team on a one-year deal worth $8 million.

Not only is this significant since Fowler just recorded 10.5 sacks for the Washington Commanders in 2024, but it was also the first time since 2015 that the Cowboys signed an outside free agent for more than $6 million.

He had those guys before. I don't mind the signing at all. Our DEs are Parsons, Kneeland, Fowler, Williams and Turner.

DT still needs some work with Mazi, Odighizuwa, Thomas and Rogers.
DT definitely still needs work. I like this signing because he’s a vet, on a one year deal and is angry. I’m glad this one is on a 1 year deal because if he sucks then see you later after the season. We need Williams and Kneeland to stay healthy and I feel our DEs are solid.

But I’m really hoping we sign or draft another DT. Mazi is a bust and we need help there. Osa won’t be able to hold the fort without help.

It'll depend on whether Jerry wants to meddle (he's not letting $8m sit....heck there's a chance he's used 1st and 2nd as well).

Are we in "WIN MODE", or are we evaluating what we've got in Sam, Kneeland (and now Turner?), with a view to whether we've got a starter in the making, after all none of them have secured that spot.

You'd hope Fowler JR was used primarily as on third down, to play both Edge's and WILL, allowing Micah to 'roam' and change alignment..... a great signing as it compliments what we've got and will benefit from Micah, but at that money Jerry's going to overuse and ruin it.

Before we forget, Dante is 30 and clearly stopgap. I dunna know but is he for the rebuild/and or does Yoda have a rationale that makes Dante valuable.
Yep, a stopgap that still allows Sam earn another contract. A pass-rush of Micah, Sam, Fowler.....a pretty decent triumvirate, especially if we can/plan of having all three on 3rd D's.

Whether Jerry can look beyond the individual contract, and not insist on over playing the $8m guy and let Eburflus use the complimentary pieces as a GROUP, we'll wait to see.

Jerry, dont transfix on the money spent, look at it as you've got a Edge room that (with Kneeland and Turner) could give you a chance of RELEVANCY.

Looks like Fowler may be our best signing.

BTW, 8 million dollars is almost exactly the same percentage as 6 million was to last years salary cap.

2.6 % vs 2.8%.....so statistically the same percentage of spending.....baby steps.

Just sayin

Where are you wanting this help to come from FA or draft? And do you think that if you draft one high should they start? And who are they sitting

I’m all about drafting DT for depth but I don’t think it’s should come before pick 76

I just don’t believe they will give up on Mazi yet and the paying of osa means he’ll be starting

I think rounds 1-3 will be DE, RB, CB or WR in a BPA fashion

Its a good signing for ya'll as a rotational pass rusher. But he is abysmal against the run. Consistently gets blown 5 yards downfield in the run game. But dont get me wrong. We Skins fans wanted him back as a 3rd down pass rusher.

TRUE don't count out Turner sometimes these guys can revamp their careers much like Fowler did three years ago when he came to the Cowboys people talked about him being a bargain basement pick up that wasn't gonna do much and look at where he's at now yes he's towards the end of his career but he's still producing he still wanted..

Turner has a chance with a different coaching staff in a different place not being counted on as a first round pick where all the presses on him he could end up giving us something like Armstrong did a couple years back... No one's counting on that but I can see it.. I mean it's funny when quarterbacks like Baker Mayfield Sam darnold and Geno Smith can resurrect their careers as former first round bus that we can't look at some of these skill players and say the same thing they can absolutely find it again or get where they were supposed to....

1 year at 8 million. For a retread. Pathetic how little it takes for Cowboys Nation to get excited again. Loser culture.

..lol..he came back for Dallas popcorn. Suprised he agreed to leave.

Turner is a good run-stopping DE. He didn't turn out in New Orleans because he didn't develop into much of a pass rusher. He's a good replacement for Golston, though.

I think he and Kneeland will be out there a lot on early downs. Obviously, we want to have Parsons out there as much as possibly. But he can't play every down at DE and not wear down.

I think Fowler will primarily be a pass rush player. I don't think we want him out there against the run. He'll get plenty of snaps in the nickel to justify his contract.

And we're not paying him $8 million. It's "up to" $8 million. I believe the last $2 million or so is incentives.

Great point.....good chance we maintain that 2.6% of the salary cap ceiling for free agents
