This is a guy who had good college stats. Declared early as a result - meaning he expected to be drafted. But.....

Wasnt drafted.
Two teams cut him before he even played a preseason game.
A third team cut him in preseason.
Nobody signed him to practise squad.

What's the issue with him? Why?

Give me Ridley in the draft, don't care about his height, kid is the next AB. Having him automatically makes our WR Corps better.
He might be out of reach; although I don't know which pick the Cowboys will end up with. My guess is around #16.

Do you think Dez acts up if he's still around and the Cowboys use their 1st round pick on a WR?

I think he might. Not that that's a reason not to. I'm just saying. Could be fireworks.

Some speed. Can he play?

Looked good in college playing for a team that doesn't run many pro concepts in their route tree. Signed one of the biggest UDFA deals after the draft and then nobody wanted him. The 49ers released him a couple of weeks later, if I recall correctly.

Every team needs a slightly talented diva.

Jerry tries to emulate Jimmy Johnson with hiring one of his assistants in Dave Campo.
Jerry tries to emulate Novachek by drafting David Lafluer
Jerry tries to copy the patriots by switching to the 3-4
Jerry tries to copy the patriots by drafting Beasley
Jerry tries to emulate Haley by drafting Ware
Jerry tries to copy Randy White by drafting Bobby Carpenter
Jerry tries to copy Irvin by drafting Dez
Jerry tries to copy Emmitt by drafting Elliott
Jerry tries to emulate the 90s offense by hiring a 90s backup QB and running that same offense & defense.

Jerry is a clueless business man, following trends instead of hiring a TRUE GM, who is in tuned to 2018 and knows how to build a team.

You do that when you have no vision. He doesn't know what a winning football team looks like. Doesn't know what it needs.

To make matters worse his top assistant also doesn't have a clue. He's not getting any guidance there. Not like a true GM should have to get any to begin with but it's an empty vessel. These aren't personnel guys.

It's a tired topic but it remains as true today as ever. They are the problem. You will never fix this team until that changes. If that offends people so be it. I'm not going to pretend otherwise.

So true. It seems every year we talk about the lack of an identity from one year to the next. It seems to be the same this year. I wonder what Jerry envisions the 2018 version of the Cowboys to be.

I think it could actually work better for him. I think the pressure of being the number 1 being taken away from him will make him play harder and maybe focus him a bit.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I believe he would be offended. I also think that Jones is too emotionally invested in Bryant to risk that. We are stuck with him until his contract runs out.

So he gets frustrated now when he does not get the football and you think him potentially getting even fewer will help the situation?

He is not "under pressure" of being the top dog and snakebit because of it. He just can't play at a high level any more.

I am just saying maybe it will humble him. Seeing the team ready to move on and looking to the future. He loves the Cowboys, so showing him shape up or ship out kind of thing may focus him, or make him take a pay cut at least. Jerry sells us every year on how we are awesome, maybe he can sell Dez on a pay cut now and a bonus if he proves it.

A lot on here on the zone wanted him last year, not a bad add if he can be added to the future’s list.

Maybe but I wonder what he'd be like playing for a hard nosed coach like a Parcells or Belichick. Someone to guide him via tough love.

Just clapping while he's going off the rails again isn't working.

He definitely needs tough love. And who cares if he gets upset. This is a business. If Jerry can't handle a temper tantrum he should find another job.

I don't mind this signing at all, he's fast and was very productive in college. Maybe being released a few times might have his mind right.

4.4 speed. Hands beyond shaky. I think hands are like QB's who are accurate. You either have it or you don't. We don't need shaky hands.
