Lol Risen, but not at you, just in agreement.
Problem is that happened just last week, in post season play.
Maher gave us absolutely no indication during regular season play that he was mental.
Thats the part that is difficult to address at this point, the timing of his failure.
Once again I would go back to it being a playoff game. The timing is too coincidental for me. I think he choked under the pressure of the postseason and I don't want that kind of player on the field in San Francisco.

And let's not act like Maher has been a model of consistency over his career. He's been erratic his entire career. Always battling the mental. That is his norm.

The thing is that it wasn't even pressure kicks that he missed.

We scored and taking the lead in the first XP missed. The next three XP extending our lead so in theory there was "no pressure". Not as if those were XP or FG to tie or win the game.

You can't dismiss the fact that it was a playoff game. I don't think that's a coincidence. The pressure was too much for him.

I don't know how you trust him in San Francisco. I'd amp up the pressure right now, put him on the practice field, tell him he's got to make 10 straight XPs and 3 FGs between 40-50 yards with everyone watching him and if he misses even one attempt he's being released.

i heard today on the fan that part of the issue was the disruption of the routine bc the officials made anger remove the white painted grass he had put down as the marker for the hold....these guys are creatures of habit and routine, and having that change must have also contributed.

Now - the fact that they didn't read the memo (as everyone of us on here did) that the officials were going to be looking for that and not letting it happen, so they could prepare for the change ahead of time is a whole different matter...I would trust him in SF as long as he goes through his preps all week and looks like himself.

Agreed. Maybe after the first one there is just some pressure from embarrassment. Still I have to believe there was another issue at play as well. Maybe its something with his technique. Maybe the field wasn't in good condition, I really don't know. I think the Cowboys are fine with bringing in someone to the PS for this week, but it's clearly a just in case Maher has another episode type of deal.

Opinion will vary my friend, but I'm standing pat with Maher if I'm MM, might be a horrible decision, but too late IMHO to make this change at this point.
Kickers Suc when they change the outcome of a game, very lucky we were not in that situation.

Insurance??

What does that mean?

If Maher misses a kick Sunday do they get to do it again with this guy?

There’s no way in the world you can’t suit up Maher for this game and all this did was mess with his head….which happens to be the problem.

Same as stepping on his toe if he had a toe injury.

This should have been completely dismissed as a problem. It’s not week six.

Stick with Maher, if he misses one more XP, might as well go for two the rest of the game.

Wow, and thanks for the info, but when did kicking become this complex?

I think Maher gets it together but I do like that this staff lets it be known that if you don’t do your job we will get someone who can

The girl who kicked for my sons high school team was 100% on XP this year. Sign her up! Haha…

If you watched the Scooter video he said how we fix this... just keep getting penalties until it is more like a FG, and Maher will be Money again, lol...

That has been my premise on this topic as well.
