Cowboys sign LB Carlos Polk...Hurd on IR

Why was this guy a street free agent? Is he any good?

Im a big Polk fan.

I was a big fan of his when he played in College as well. He knows this scheme too.

Good Special teams player as well.

He may take over for Burnett eventually because I doubt Dallas signs Kevin back.

Kevin is a future Dolphin.

Burnett is way too small for Parcells. Burnett is a speed player, not a power guy like the Big Dolphin likes.

Yep, I went over to a Chiefs board a couple of weeks ago and they said he was tearing it up on ST.

Oh well. :

Its funny I have Directv and I've watched all of about 5 plays from the Chiefs games this year and Walden made two tackles on special teams while I was watching.

Could have used him.

he's a life time ST player like Keith Davis.

He is Bobby Carpenter's replacement. As soon as he gets up to speed and can play as well as Carp(about 2 weeks is my guess ), Carp is history.

And when Carp gets cut, they will add another CB.

He is a nice pick-up for you guys. He brings a lot of energy and he can spot start at OLB and ILB. He is just not very fluid in pass defense. I was hoping that the Chargers would re-sign him and cut Derek Smith. He is through. Polk is a solid back-up.

And Bobby Carpenter sucks.

Why didn't we just give him away to the Lions for free?

It's going to be a race between him and Stanback for their spot next season. I'd say, going in, that Hurd will have a pretty solid advantage over IS in that regard.

With Owens, Williams, Crayton, and Austin, I doubt Hurd will still be around. Stanback has more potential than Hurd and will be kept around for that reason alone. Hurd is done IMO.
