They have loved this guy for a long time, I will reserve judgment and defer to their expertise on this player.
Our FO's expertise? I'm thinking you just woke up from a coma that started in 1995!!!!!

Athletic but not as strong a McGovern or position versatile (OT/OG/C), so he is a no go at OG. Can only be a OT, good athlete but strength is suspect. Think of him as a poor man's Connor Williams with even less strength than either of the Connors.
I wouldn’t worry too much about his combine numbers. He’s been working with pro teams in the weight room.

And bench is pretty worthless as a gauge for football strength.

Yup I remember they interviewed Frederick after practice one day while he was standing on the field. They said they were concerned about his bench press numbers he said “how many benches do you see on the field?”

People are complaining about a depth signing?

This isn't Jerry praising the signing of Mackenzy Bernadeau, the dude who looked like Ricky Gervais, or even the dude who Michael Irvin stabbed with scissors. He's not here to start. He's here to create competition for our recently drafted backup tackles.

This is true. But what they don't measure at the combine is football smarts. Brian Waters played for us in TFred's rookie year. He immediately praised TFred for teaching him the offence. That's the elite football IQ that associates with perfect technique which you have to have to succeed without great strength.

Will be interesting to see where our coaches play him, he played RT for Jets and Handled it pretty well.
Maybe a temp. For Steele ? Till he's ready and can play swing.
Problem with that is it means Tyron would be starting LT. And Smith is starting LG.
Nor sure how I feel about that, as I've said - pick which position you want Tyler to play for the next 6-7 years and leave him there !

They will use Tyler just like they did with Larry Allen.

Look at what constant changing positions (and weight) did to Tyrone Crawford. Made him a good-ish stop gap at 2 positions instead a real good player at one.
Don't want them doing that toTyler, already done it for his rookie year .....

if he stays healthy this is a big win. He has the flex we like. He can start in a pinch.
