Signed by Cowboys Cowboys sign OL Matt Hennessy

This week - Yacht trip/dumpster diving
Next week - Working on our "own" free agents/ letting the "market" settle
3rd week - honest offers to the named free agents (if there is anyone left)

Still cannot believe they didn’t throw a bone at Wagner or Okereke.

I feel like offense is pretty set. Defense is pretty decent at DL, S, OLB and CB (with good help). Pretty content with what we have compared to what is available.

Just cannot imagine they are OK with only Overshown at ILB. Yes, we likely draft a guy like CJ Allen. But with Overshowns history he is not playing 17 and asking a rookie to walk in and be your leader is tough

Is Henessey a better backup center than Hoffman if he is better this is a good signing, Beebe was out last season for a stretch with that high ankle sprain.
Rated a little higher on PFF. Hoffman gives you a little more flex however

Matt Hennessy’s PFF grades for the 2025 season with the 49ers show a ~67.1 overall grade, 63.4 pass block grade, and 66.4 run block grade in a limited starting role. Previously, in his 2022 season, he achieved a strong 76.4 overall grade, including an 88.1 run-blocking grade. He is considered an athletic, run-first center suitable for outside zone schemes.

Key PFF Grade Highlights
  • 2025 (49ers):In 3 games, he posted a 67.1 overall grade, 63.4 in pass-blocking, and 66.4 in run-blocking, with 0 sacks allowed
    .
    • 2022 (Falcons): 76.4 overall grade (6th among 33 qualifying centers), with an elite 88.1 run-block grade.
    • 2021 (Falcons): 77.1 grade.
    • 2020 (Falcons): 47.0 overall grade.
Hennessy has a history of strong run-blocking, often ranking among the top centers in that metric during his time in Atlanta. He has also demonstrated proficiency as a pass-blocker when starting, particularly in 2021 and during his 2025 stint with San Francisco

Quality depth is a luxury in the NFL

Hoffman is quality depth.

I hope Hennessy can provide the same reliability as Hoffman
He rated higher than Hoffman.

However, Hoffman had 200+ more snaps AND played multiple positions.

Figured we had to get a cheap backup center. I know Bass has done some cross-training but we couldn't have been comfortable there.
I would have rather drafted a kid......Pat Coogan C Indiana/Notre Dame

Another dumb Cowboys front office move.

You get rid of Grier and replace him with the lesser Howell.

Now, you're going to get rid of Hoffman and replace him with the lesser Hennesey.

This organization simply doesn't get it. 1 step forward, 2 steps back. Dumb.

There's nothing that says we can't and let them compete. I get tired of this team just handing players jobs.

Howell is lesser than Grier? Hennesey is lesser than Hoffman?

I think you are picking nits.

Looks like our FO is doing a better job than what we've anticipated lately. I'm feeling relieved. :)
Seems to me as though it's time to give some measure of meaningful credit where it's due!!
