Signed by Cowboys Cowboys sign OL Matt Hennessy

The dumpster fire purge is starting right on time, fellas. So this is Hoffman's replacement? Goodness gracious, Dak already has lots to deal with in losing loved ones; now, he inherits this guy?
You know nothing about the player. Absolutely nothing. Nor do I so how about waiting to see how he plays before squatting on it.

Thank you Carson, that was very nice. Hennessey is quite a bit bigger than Hoffman 6-3 315. Looks like a nice backup center to me, another good signing that brings much needed depth to the offensive line. GO COWBOYS.
Obvious Adams and Riley want bigger dudes on the OL. Hence the swap from Hoffman to this dude

Looks like our FO is doing a better job than what we've anticipated lately. I'm feeling relieved. :)
Seems to me as though it's time to give some measure of meaningful credit where it's due!!
I'd prefer to see how it turns out first. So far, we've replaced:

Clowney with Gary at DE/OLB

Wilson with Thompson at SS

Juanyeh Thomas (?) with Locke at third or fourth S

Odighizuwa with Ogbonnia at DT

Grier with Howell at backup QB

Diggs with Durant at third CB

Hoffman with Hennessy at backup C

Have not replaced yet (or resigned):
Solomon Thomas (backup DT)
Hakeem Adeniji (backup OT)
Kenneth Murray (starting MLB)
Jack Sanborn/Logan Wilson (backup MLB)
Dante Fowler (backup DE)
Perrion Winfrey (backup DT)

Hoffman will be an nfl starter
Not sure about that. No one has signed him yet, and his flaws showed last year. He's a try-hard player who can be exposed at times. Maybe this line crew, which just worked with him last year, didn't like him much as McCarthy's crew did.

You seem comfortable recommending those whom many of us feel were destined to be canned.

I would agree that Clowney might well be someone who still should be an exception that notion.

Let's also face the fact that there will definitely be some talents available in the draft to help us.

Forgot one:

Wheat for Fowler

Not recommending anyone, just pointing out positions we've lost and positions we've replaced.

The people that are recent additions can't possibly be the total answer to our needs.

There will be far more yet to come to attend to that; let's be patient for that to occur.

We'll probably add a few more cheap free agents, and then there's the draft. I mean, we just added Hennessey yesterday and Durant last night.

Now, you're talking -- this thing is still a work in progress that remains to be settled aptly. Patience.

The draft, yet to come, will surely be used to advantage, even if some of them would require time.

Aptly is questionable. Again, I prefer to see these players play first. Last year, when we got Murray, Elam, etc., a lot of fans thought we had settled our needs aptly. I can't say this isn't more of the same.

I think Gary will be a solid player, but I don't know if he's any better than Clowney at this point. Ogbonnia started every game for the Chargers in 2024, but was only used as a reserve in nine in 2025. Thompson and Locke seem like at least slight upgrades. Durant played better than anything we stuck out there at corner last year, but that's not saying much. Hennessey seems pretty equal to Hoffman. Grier didn't offer us much as a backup QB and Howell has at least started in this league.

Let's face it -- there are no guarantees that most or any of them will be certified winners. It's going to require time and plenty of hard work for the necessary people to be attended to capably. We've added some defensive tackles and heavy hitters to tend to better results. It's simply a work in progress. Time will surely be a real factor to consider for the necessary results. I'm sure there'll be more to come.

Yes Tabasco, but if we are being honest how many league OL do you know by name?
Maybe 3-4 per team that I can remember. There are many that I know and research for each draft but once it is over and they aren’t in the division….I forget they exist :muttley:
