Signed by Cowboys Cowboys sign OL Saahdiq Charles

Cowboys have plenty of OGs already, so why not get "a guy" someone that can truly fill the position because if they gonna roll into the season with Hoffman as the starter they've failed in talent acquisition.

He offers additional competition which is always a good thing.

Even players that don't make the cut can end up making some type of contribution by raising the quality of competition so everybody works harder.

Then again, you never know.

Nate Newton went undrafted and joined Washington as a free agent. He was cut and on the same day he got in a serious car accident.

Nate played a few years in the USFL before joining the Cowboys and was almost cut several times due to his weight.

Mark Tuinei was a reserve DT before transitioning to offense. In his first six seasons he started a total of 23 games. He was constantly on the bubble.

These two guys combined for 8 Pro Bowls, each started on three SB championship teams and was the left side of "The Great Wall" for five seasons.

So, you never really know.

Not fair they can do these type of signings while preparing for the draft. They are amazing. Love to hear Jerry pronounce his name too.

I can hear Jerry now.... "we are proud to have signed a fine player like Sadik Charles". Not Saahdiq, but Sadik.....

No. Need RG1.
No, we don't. At Guard, the Cowboys currently have Brock Hoffman, TJ Bass, Robert Jones and now Saadiq Charles. That's besides having signed G Robert Jones as a free agent at the start of free agency last month...

Arguably, the Cowboys are set at the Guard positions on the Oline. Seriously doubt they will draft a Guard.

I love how everyone is so pumped about a college OL coach from Kansas State. Are we that pathetic at this point?
Dont watch much Kansas State personally but when talking about replacing the incompetent dinosaur Solari, I welcome any kind of change, lol.

Why the hate on Hoffman?

The OL improved when he became the starter and the run game improved. He’s been around the league long enough to know what it takes.

Yeah, he’s not prime Martin. But you cannot have high paid players at all 5 OL spots or 5 first rounders.

He’s graded out nearly the same as Will Hernandez who half the board has been asking for.

Not a bad move for competition in camp. At the very least he is released or placed on practice squad. At best he makes team as a backup. Either way its depth at a position where too much depth should never be an issue going into camp. In reality the depth added to this offensive line takes the need to draft OL out of the equation until the 5th and 6th rounds.

Good move.
