Great, I asked for this when he was cut. Now try to find a team that wants Dak and get some picks for him. Then praise God for all the extra cap space.

Agendas aside, this is a good front office move.

Andy Dalton is a veteran QB that can come in and play 2-3 weeks in case
Dak gets injured. Also, Dak now has someone in the QB room
that has seen all the coverages, blitzes, etc. It can only help him.

By the way, just as a side bar, Dalton's Bengals had the Steelers beat in
their last playoff game until Vontaze Burfict had a meltdown on the
Steelers final drive. Also, Dalton hasn't had an offensive line the caliber
of the Cowboys (not many have).

Exactly...……………..its called competition.

With Rush and the 7th rounder sitting on the bench, Dak was sleeping like a baby at night. All of sudden, things have changed. Maybe Dak is thinking that 5 year deal the Cowboys offered aint soo bad after all and he backs off this "4 yr deal or nothing" attitude he has had lately.

That's what I'm hoping for. I'm tired of Dak's "My way or the highway" attitude. Time to start acting like a team player.

Like this signing. We’ve all been screaming for a good veteran backup and now Magic Mike brings one in. Cooper Rush can finally go back to the practice squad or go home. This team is serious about making a Super Bowl run.
With us drafting DiNucci I'd rather see that Cooper hits the road at this point.

That's been my issue with him as well.

As I've made it known, I like Dak and have no problem with him getting paid but the attitude he's had has really led me to sour on him as a player since his attitude has completely changed.

He went from a team player to where it currently stands now. He's also has to realize that he needs players around him to elevate his play since he's also shown that when the pieces aren't in place that he hasn't shown that he can elevate their play (see pre-Cooper as a prime example).

Now if Jerry wasn't trying to stack the roster with multiple weapons and still a top tier OL then I'd completely understand wanting to get every penny possible but that's definitely not the case here in Dallas and Dak needs to wake up already and realize that.

That's why I like this signing since it creates competition at the QB1 position and if Dak continues to pout like he has been during his contract negotiation then now I have confidence that the season isn't completely lost if he continues to hold out.

I mean you want your backup QB to be a game manager who if your starting QB misses 4 games can sneak a win or 2 out of them. You typically do not want a gunslinger as your backup QB.

I hear you but you don't want your backup making $7 million a year.

Not making excuses but Winston had no running game and Dalton had a decent running back stable to hand off to when necessary.

We obviously have Zeke and Pollard which is better.

Some folks are whining that Jerry paid Dalton before Dak... NO. Jerry signed a high-quality backup QB to a VERY team-friendly contract

Dalton's guaranteed $3M is between AJ McCarron & Chad Henne guaranteed contracts (Practical Guarantees)

IF he earns the full $7M for the year, it'd put him between Mitchell Trubisky & Daniel Jones for the year.(Average Salary)

If we're talking total contract value, he's between Drew Lock & Jeff Driskel.

It's backup QB money for a better-than-average backup QB.

If Dak continues to hold out and not report until the deadline we could have been opening the season with Cooper at QB. Signing Andy is a safety net he will be in all Off season workouts and in training camp jelling with the team. Andy is No Dak but he is no Cooper either and he gives us a chance if Dak continues to hold out. The last thing that Dak wants is to hold out and the rumor comes out of Off season workouts or Training camp that Andy has jelled with his receivers and the offense is really looking good.
Dak needs to be in all off season workouts for sure but he Has to be there when TC starts or he falls behind.

I log off for 24hrs...and Cowboy Nation goes all to hell....What the hell am I going to do w/ all you people?

I get it...we needed a back up QB...Just not sure he was the one. I kind of get the feeling we were looking to draft a guy w/ the Robinson pick.

I love the FO's decision to sign Dalton to shore up our backup spot. I can't help but to think it's not to replace Dak but it should help to see, without a doubt, who deserves the backup spot(s) the most. Let's not forget Thornton is involved here, as well. It could possibly end up being a competition between Rush and Thornton for the #3 QB spot, if there's a 3rd backup option. (Just want to cover all the bases.) Anyhow, I'm glad this happened. I'm also anxious to see how Andy does with a better supporting cast to work with. :D

Very accurate. If Dalton gets the command of the playbook under MM and jells well with cee dee and Cooper and teammates , then Dak will have issues . Even if Dak comes back late and starts , he will always be looking behind his shoulders at Dalton waiting to come in . Whenever Dak slips or throws interceptions, the fans will boo Dak and demand Dalton to come in . Dak has rubbed many fans and the FO the wrong way with his antics . I believe he has been listerning too much to his agent and some in the media who don’t like the cowboys ( like shannon sharpe or Stephen A and such ) A dangerous game to sink into .

No, not even close. This is a fantasyland take.

This has "make your move Dak" written all over it..

One year folks.. Dalton signed for only one year..

He probably thinks he can still be a starter in this league and wanted a prove it deal..

You don't sign Dalton to be your back up when you have a guy that's been here for years in Rush and a project for the future in Di Nucci..

Those that say Dak shouldn't be worried are the ones that should get out of fantasy land.

No more coddles from uncle jerry.

Think about it, why bring in a guy to a team that has 3 QBs already and the starter is an Ironman and only sign that guy for one year?

Dak, your move..

Shots fired!
Now we get to see if Dak wants to be a Cowboy or not.
At the VERY least, we now have a legitimate starter if Dak decides to be stupid. I still hope that he signs, but I would NOT sign him at the stupid salary that it has been reported that he wants.

Nothing like bringing in an accomplished starting NFL QB as a backup to prove you have no commitment to winning.
Accomplished? Best thing he did for Cincy is lead them to winning the Burrow sweepstakes.

Oh this is going to be tasty

But the Dak fanboys refuse to see the writing on the wall..

Even Dez knows what's up.

They can say whatever they want, but I never heard other teams GMs saying that their QB needs to take a team friendly deal..

If they wanted him, they would have signed him 2 years ago.. but you keep believing this is only about a one year argument.
