Didn't see that coming.
Everything seemed, rather, to point to Eagles assistant and long-time Cowboys Asst WR coach Kyle Valero making a return engagement... why else wait this long?
I'm skeptical that this is a good idea. That's unlike the O-line hire, where we can feel some confidence that regardless of how much hyperbole there is to having hired "the best" college o-line coach to work under Adams... that... Adams will be the ex-officio O-line coach, ie, a heavy hand.
My sense is we needed a voice who WRs are going to have some reason to give regard. Our OC is not a former WR coach. Neither is our HC. This person should be someone with some NFL pedigree, imo.
You
can of course hire a high-caliber, high-regard QB coach who has some of that background, and who can be a support to a newbie WR coach... but to
@Risen Star 's point... Underwood should take a bit of offense to think he's going to be subjugated to someone with so little resume'.
Imo.
