Better than Morris (maybe) worse than DMC. I'd expect the 3rd RB would have to be a serious special teams contributor i honestly have not watched Hillman close enough to know if he plays special teams... anybody?
If you haven't watched Hillman enough how you know he better then Morris but worst then McFadden

Didn't think I had to really go into details. When I watched him play I never bothered to watch to see if he plays special teams.

Much ado about nothing. There are 4 RB and 2 FB in camp, there are 5 preseason games. How many touches do you think Elliott and McFadden are really going to get in preseason, answer probably no more than 30 total each. The other RB and FB will get the majority of snaps and in the second half of preseason games even Morris and one of the Smiths will not get any snaps or very few meaning a rookie RB and 1 Smith to do all the work. Any injury means having to use of the guys you don't want to give snaps to in a meaningless game. Easy to see why they sign Hillman.

Sure maybe something happens with Elliott and then maybe not but it doesn't affect preseason where you need bodies and Adam should know that.

Schefter is literally the worst. Until this investigation is complete everything will be because Cowboys are concerned at suspension. His next tweet will be "Cowboys sign back up punter for camp...an indication they're worried Elliott will be suspended". Forget the fact we're just making normal football moves

The timing on this was pretty good considering that RBs are going to have a bigger market with both Kenneth Dixon (Baltimore) and Devonte Booker (Denver) going down with injuries.

Dixon is out for the year and Booker is gone for 6-8 weeks.

It also might be time to see if anyone is interested in a trade for Morris.

The fact that it is a veteran running back and not some undrafted rookie is probably what prompted the dot connecting. The logic being if all they wanted was a camp body, there are cheaper alternatives than a vested veteran.

Regardless of what happens to Elliott, I think they are very interested in going deep at the position. I know the "Dunbar" pass catching role is a thought, but maybe not as much as thought.

Stephen Jones seems confident in Switzer:

“Switzer brings a lot of things to the table that Lance did. Switzer is more of a receiver than a back, but he still can bring all the versatility and the plays that Lance could bring to the table for us.”

We can cut him without owing a dime, even if vested.

Adam Schefter reports that the Cowboys are signing veteran RB Ronnie Hillman to a contract.

Schefter adds that this could be an indication of concern that an NFL decision regarding possible discipline for RB Ezekiel Elliott could be coming.

Hillman just recently worked out for Dallas along with Denard Robinson.

Hillman, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Broncos back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract before re-signing with Denver on a one-year, $2 million contract this past April. However, the Broncos cut him loose at the start of last season.

The Vikings later signed him to a contract after sustaining some injuries at running back. However, he was waived and claimed by the Chargers soon after.

In 2016, Hillman appeared in eight games for and ran for 131 yards on 41 carries (3.2 YPC) to go along with seven receptions for 93 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

If he sticks, its an upgrade over Dunbar at least.
He's more fluid and elusive than both Morris and DMC--which isn't saying a ton.

Per Adam Schefter.

Must be worried about Zeke discipline?

Need a RB to take snaps in the HOF game late. If he looks good, he sticks around. I expect 1 or 2, maybe 3 roster moves after the HOF game.

We have seen both Keith Smith and Rod Smith getting tailback reps. I don't think both make the team, so this might hurt Rod Smith more than anyone else. If they keep a FB, Keith Smith gets it because he can play ST and fill in at LB if everyone was hit by a truck.

Never hurts to have competition in camp. I like the signing. I'm not worried about a Zeke suspension being the motive behind this signing.

Alfred Morris being our 4th string RB probably has a lot to do with this.
