Signed by Cowboys Cowboys signing Saints first-rounder DE Payton Turner

Still on market:

On Thursday, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox named the Cowboys as a top remaining suitor for Washington Commanders outside linebacker/defensive end Dante Fowler, who played two years for the Cowboys from 2022 to 2023.

"The 30-year-old (Fowler) finished the 2024 season with 10.5 sacks and 20 quarterback pressures. Teams willing to roll the dice on an older defender who has never been a bona fide star could find themselves a steal," Knox wrote.

"While Fowler is a pass-rush specialist and less efficient against the run, he should interest any team seeking a disruptive edge defender. Though the Cowboys took a flier on Payton Turner on Tuesday, they should consider adding Fowler as a rotational rusher to complement Micah Parsons."

The 10.5 mark Fowler put up was the second-highest sack total of his career, trailing his 11.5-sack season in 2019 with the Los Angeles Rams. He played 52 percent of the Commanders' defensive snaps last season, compared to 30 and 25 percent in his two years as a Cowboy.

why go after a solid starter for decent money. Many in here want Parson's traded.
Trading Parsons, is the dumbest idea I hear repeated often on this board. Parsons is a unique generational talent and he is in hand. You are going to trade him for what, a couple of draft picks? Do you think this group of knuckleheads are going to find another player like Parsons? I don't. Not a chance.

I think Thomas is Golstons replacement. Same "not really a DT not really a DE" who struggles against the run (which is odd because that was supposed to be Golstons strength coming out

I think Turner is just a dart throw on a talent underachiever
He was pretty good against the run from the end last year. Could really see his motor and effort.

I am 69 years young and am far less a Cowboys fan then I used to be. I used to have a draft party of Cowboy fans like me. BBQ and beer. We made our own Cowboys draft boards. We all had Cowboys Jerseys on.

Those days are done. Jerry is far older then us and while he can still sling a line to the fans, the effort to put a top flight team on the field just isn't there. He doesn't understand that just hanging around the rim doesn't do it. You have to have players who can tear that rim down and shatter it. That takes effort and involves taking more risk, not less. Jerry is acting like he has already won the Super Bowl and trying to keep his few difference makers from leaving. Guess what Jerry, you haven't won squat and the Cowboys have become irrelevant. Is what it is as Bill P said. We are what Jerry has made us and sadly that means we will require a Lotta luck to even be a contender in our own Division.
You nailed it.
I so miss it. I miss how the Cowboys would win championships.

Turner is probably the one FA we picked up that I’m most intrigued by.

Dallas in recent history been enamored with long rangy DEs with positional flex (David Irving, Golston, etc.).

Turner only played in a total of 15 games his first three seasons primarily due to injuries going on IR twice.

I like his upside. If you watch his highlights (yes, they are cherry-picked highlights), you’ll see there’s something there. There are flashes of real ability.
