Signed by Cowboys Cowboys signing Saints first-rounder DE Payton Turner

They are not signing starters most of these guys are bums so it doesn’t put you in the position of BPA. But you are correct the talent level of the outside free agents signed will not prohibit them from drafting anybody
Oh, you have snapshots of him on the street in a sleeping bag?

The Cowboys have agreed to a one-year deal with DE Payton Turner, a former first-round pick of the Saints in 2021, according to sources. Injuries hurt his development, but he had two sacks, four pass deflections and two forced fumbles in 16 games last year.

Lmao , saints signing players with no cap. We are doing what we usually do just early. Scrub azz ownership

I really hope these signings don’t affect a true run stopping DT like Grant.
They won't. Mazi will. Unfortunately.

The spin will be that he's 'ready to step up' under a new coach and scheme that 'plays to his strengths' (it doesn't).

The Cowboys entered free agency with $54 million of cap room and are doing business like they had $15.4 million.

In a bubble this is a nice signing for depth but we are still waiting on a big time difference maker.
Fully agree.

But I fear those are all gone sir.

Look I'm sure we'll get some production out of these guys we're signing that aren't household names. However, why not just get combined the money and go get a good player that may actually upgrade a position?

Every signing we've made is basically a replacement player for another we didn't want to pay.

At least, like someone else said, these guys give us depth so we have a floor at each position. That way, we can draft BPA in the draft.

Like Thomas, Turner is a former first-round pick, though in 2021, and his contract indicates he'll have every opportunity to prove himself this summer, with $2 million of his $3 million max value being guaranteed by Dallas.
He also holds the interesting title of being the final first-round pick of the Sean Payton era in New Orleans.
A Houston native, the 26-year-old returns to his home state of Texas and with a chance to develop under the tutelage of new defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton and defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, having already shown flashes at times in his young career of what might be hiding beneath the surface.
