I see so many people saying dallas lost the micah trade. I dont see how when the guy hasn't been on the field and is now injury prone.

Dallas has more players on the field that was connected to the micah trade, while micah has been sitting on the couch.

Even if you believe the connected players are not performing the way you want, micah is not performing at all, nor is it a given that he will be the same when he comes back.

Dallas has the upper hand in this trade by a mile. Micah being on this cowboys team would not have made a difference (ok we would have a few more sacks, but we would still get ran and passed on).

I know some of you are emotional about the season, but we cant one up micah when the guy isnt even on the field and is injury prone. Hell, he cant even make it out of the bed to play dallas, but atleast our guys will be out there on the field trying to get a win.

Even if our defense is getting toasted by GB, Micah would just be getting ran on by Williams in return, with probably some quick passes to counter his rush.

We gotta stop with the lost trade talk.

We didn't win the trade because we didn't get better. We got worse. Doesn't matter what Micah is doing with GB, we got worse. It's been long enough we should have seen the signs of turning this thing around like the Cowboys did in 1990 the next season after the Walker trade. We are at that same time frame with the Parsons trade and the team has regressed even further on defense.

We are doomed to discuss this trade every week for the rest of our lives.
At least its GB week, though.

Kind of reminds me of anytime we would play the Brady era Patriots and the "Are the Cowboy still America's Team?" conversations.

Bottom line is, so far the Cowboys have turned Micah Parsons into Kenny Clark, Quinnen Williams, Devin Moore, and LT Overton.

All defensive players on a unit that is still miserable. Micah may miss a few more games but he's given Green Bay the pass rusher they expected. What exactly have the Cowboys gotten so far?

I think we're at the point where discussing "won or lost" isn't really accurate anymore. GB is dealing with a busted up Parsons and seemingly a closing window. Our Window has yet to re-open. Comparing the two teams is kind of pointless.

I like your framing better.

There are two ways to look at it.

1: Did we achieve our goal in getting more resources to rebuild a failing defense? Yes, if you consider that a 'goal' of the FO (debatable)
2: Have those resources panned out? Doesn't appear they have, but it's both early and incomplete thus far.

But yeah I'd say, as of right now, we're not succeeding with the resources gained, so it feels like a failure. What I appreciate about your post is that it doesn't present the counterfactual "we'd be better with Micah". It's unknowable, though again, my reason for wanting to trade him was always risk aversion.

Talking about the Packers' side for a minute; even when Micah comes back, I don't expect him to be the "Micah Parsons Problem" right away. I'd be really surprised if it's not 2027 before he's back to 'normal', and by then...he'll be 28 with a history of wearing down as the season goes on.

But we'll see!

Too early to judge. Overton has been flashing. Moore hurt. Quinnen has shown a little something but less than expected. Clark sux. Gary is lost right now.

I don't care what is happening with the Packers. I don't care about narratives surrounding winning/losing the trade.

The Cowboys defense is significantly worse since they made the Micah Parsons trade. That's a fact.

if Parsons was here every day there would be threads complaining about that contract and how that has set the franchise back 20 years.

Not sure I fully agree..other than you do make a great point. It just goes to show all the moving parts of things. We might have actually gotten decent players from the trade.....but still suck in other important aspects of the team.

And...judging up til now...can we say our defense is better for it? Our team? I think THAT is obvious!

It's why I'm ambivalent about Dak. Some people think I'm some "hater"...even though they can;t really find me blasting him (not his QB play anyway). It doesn't seem to matter how good he is...we stiunk. So WHY pay him that 60 million when it doesn;t even matter?

Jerseys.

Not bumping my own post, but I made an error and want to correct it. Forgot to put Malachi Lawrence on the list. And he's actually flashed some ability so it's still wait and see mode.
