Cowboys still haven't recovered from Parsons trade yet

I can't say we'd have much more than Micah having to fight through multiple blocks to get pressure on the QB while our secondary gives up quick throws to nullify his pass rush and our DTs get moved out of the way for the running game. ... And that's if he didn't tear his ACL.
What not mentioned is how he impacted other teams' game plan. Most teams used multiple players to minimize his impact.......freeing other players. I don't think there's any question we have not recovered on the field but his leadership/locker room behavior was/is toxic. Being the 2nd highest player on the team would definitely affect the younger players. Having him on your team is tricky..........

Honestly I think we miss DLaw more than we do Parsons.
I agree somewhat........DLaw was
**Unappreciated by fans but the most respected player on the team
** Hardest-working player on the team
** One of the few players who wasn't afraid to stand up to Parsons
**Remember Parsons' words after DLaw left.......this now my defense.

This isn’t about discussing whether it was a good trade or not. I think we have exhausted that discussion.

No doubt we received much in compensation . But what we have received thus far hasn’t enabled this defense and team to fully recover.

If anything this defense has continued to decline and it’s much worse in last two years than previously with Parsons.

So, do we have to wait another year and draft to begin to recover and rebuild this defense. Do we have the right coaching in place. Was our trade for Q the right use of resources???

Right now I’d argue we have more questions than answers and we haven’t recovered from Parsons trade yet.
I think it's some fans that can't recover from that trade. Parsons was becoming a cancer in Dallas. On top of that, he was playing out of position, going against much bigger players and getting double teamed....it was just a matter of time before that style of play would catch up with him, and it did, in GB. He hasn't played in about a year, but his trade is the reason we suck. Ok

The bigger issue is the Cowboys defense hasn’t got any better, probably worse.

WTH are you talking about? The defense was really bad with Parsons actually the defense may have been worse especially the run defense
It had declined from previous high rankings 5th and 12th respectively to 28th. But 31st and 32nd is hovering around franchise historic futilities.

It's nice to see the loser mentality that our Cowboys fans have acquired over the years of losing. We get rid of a generation talent, and somehow that makes us better? Okay...good thing I witnessed greatness in the 70s, 90s, cause that's never happening again.

I’m not really interested in GB. Couldnt care less its effects. Although it was looking good for them until his injury.

Unfortunately for Cowboys we appear to be in a worse situation than before .
Lol...OK, so we'd be a top defense with Parsons...lol!!!
He would take up interior blocks to free the MLBs, he'd drop in coverage and cover, he'd keep the edge and at the same time, rush the passer. Damn! You're right, Parsons is Superman.....hell even superman has to lay down sometimes, like Parsons did on our sideline during a game....

Interestingly enough I’ve found that most didn’t agree with how Parsons renegotiation of contract was handled. And Parsons could have handled it better as well. No intention here to rehash .

Problem we have though in a fan forum is there is a contingency of Homers who don’t take likely to any criticism of the Cowboys and or its organization , etc.

I tend to align more with our local beat writers who cover the Cowboys closely and provide accolades and sharp critiqued dialogue pending the situation.

While I’ve been critical of how it all was handled I have been open to the prospect if we used the draft picks and assets gained from trade effectively could actually come out with a better defense , etc.

All Im currently reporting is we haven't come out yet. And actually appear to have taken a further step back. All the while many of this segment have hailed all the hype surrounding what a great move this was and how we’d see the results this season.

So far I’d call bullcrap . That doesn’t mean it was a bad trade . Just means we havent taken advantage of it and if indeed we can.

The bottomline remains our defense hasn’t improved. As a matter of fact it’s worse.

So regardless our personal feelings regarding Parsons or the trade, etc we can’t dismiss this.

I think the loss of Quinn and firing of McCarthy has been more detrimental to the team (considering who was chosen to replace them) than the trading of Parsons. There has been an influx of talent to compensate the loss of Parsons.

This would suggest we took a step back as a result of the trade. One we haven't recovered from. I think we were already in free fall before the trade. It started with the playoff game against GB. Then the offseason leading into the 2024 season was a disgrace. Then during the season teams were putting up 40 on us, including the saints. I say the D sucked before the Parsons trade, and would have continued to suck with or without the Parsons trade.

Bottom line is, there is no way that you can know if we'd be better with Parsons.....it's all about bashing your team.....bash away. Everyone else is.

The goal of the Parsons trade was to fix the run defense. What they have ended up with no fix for the run defense and now they have no pass rush either. They were so desperate to recreate the Walker trade that they completely blew it.

But we do know the state of the defense without him. Parsons alone probably wouldn't make a difference. But as I recall the pass rush wasn't so much an issue when we had him. Run defense was the problem and their answer was to trade away the guy who provided the pass rush in hopes of fixing the run defense and still maintaining a respectable pass rush. That has overwhelmingly failed.

You call it bashing I call it bringing critical thinking and holding them accountable.

Apparently you don’t believe that’s a fans prerogative . We should just be cheering on our team whatever they dish out.
