The Pats have been caught more than once flat out cheating... I'll never respect that. Makes me wonder what they got away with. They deserve to have a couple of there titles stripped from them, just my opinion. I feel the same way about the Steelers and how the refs called a couple of their SB wins, especially the one against the Seahawks.

I have no control over how anyone here feels I can only tell how I do. I will not be a sour grape fan never have never will. People will find any and everything to belittle a championship team fans of others have done that about the Cowboys and many of us have done that to Pitt, SF and now Pats because they win and again I refuse to do it but not going to try and change any ones mind only giving my view

But you can't deny the league has severely fined the Pats and their coach on two different occasions and it wasn't over nothing. Some of their wins, therefore, have to be treated with suspicion. I'm just stating facts here. No cheap shots.

Yes deflate gate and spygate and even Jimmy Johnson did not think the spygate was that big of a deal and talked of sending his people to look at notes and scraps after games used by opposing teams. I'm sorry those 2 events in no way changes my mind Pats have won 6 SB and have been in 9 and that is an achievement that is excellent and I will not belittle that accomplishment. I'm no fan of theirs and will normally pull against them but I have respect for what they have accomplished

Okay then, but you have to know Roger Staubach in his prime would kick Tom Brady's butt in a cage match. :D

in a fight yes I take Roger. Those team of the 70's however are midgets compared to the players today. Fact is 300 pounders at OL was a rarity then now it is a given. Guys are just bigger and stronger these days so no way you can compare. But yeah in a fight I take Roger over Brady, I think being a Naval officer Roger learned a bit about fighting

I was not a Lakeshow fan either. I despise the Spurs. Detroit back in the day made me laugh because they were freakin gang bangers. Especially Laimbeer. Do you recall the play-off game where Magic and Isaiah Thomas kissed full on the mouth at center court before the game?

However, Magic was a freak of nature. He was not shooter when he entered the league. He could shoot some, but was essentially the creator. But later, as pieces left the Lakers she had to step up. He spent an off season teaching himself how to be a scorer. And I believe they won a championship that season. I always respected him, while still disliking him because I was a Mavericks fan.

You may, or may not remember this. Or even have seen it.

Dallas had the Lakers down 3-2 back in the Mark Aguirre Rolando Blackman day. Dallas has the ball with maybe 15 seconds left. Derek Harper brought the ball up and stood in the open area above the key, dribbling. He dribbled out the clock thinking Dallas had the lead. The Lakers went on to win that game and the next to head to the championship series.

I hated that, but vehemently disagree MJ was the best ever. Frankly, people don't bring this up, but Bill Russel has to be in the discussion of best ever. My list may not have Lebroin in the top 7. Oscar Robertson also has to be considered.

Magic is the only guy I have seen who played point guard and yet also played center vs the Celtics in the championship and produced.

Those great Boston teams of Red Auerbach's were before my time so I have only poor video and the history books to go by... I'm sure that doesn't do them justice. I can't fathom a team being that much better than the rest of the league for so long. It just looks wrong in print to see how many times they repeated as champs.

Of course we have to recognize the fact the game has changed and the players are more athletic.

When I was a kid back in the late 60's early 70's I used to hate to hear the old guys doing the "players were better when I was younger" and promised myself I would never be that guy. In all sports, the players have become bigger, faster, stronger, and more skilled. The population the athletes are drawn from has increased more than the number of teams/players required about the only advantage the old timers had is they could get away with using PEDs more easily.

If you're going to compare NFL teams from different eras I'd use the following criteria:
    1 Championships won
    2 Playoff Games won
    3 Regular Season WL%
4 Win% against teams that finished with winning records/made playoffs

If you had a time machine and put the Packers 60's teams up against recent NFL champs it would be about as competitive as Alabama vs The Little Sisters of the Poor HS. Of course if the Packers players had grown up in modern conditions they'd probably be much better than they were in their own time.

Another example of looking at players/teams in the context of their time to evaluate greatness, rather than comparing the old timers to modern athletes. They ought to put Bill Russell's picture next to the word champion in every dictionary. The modern athletes have the advantage of learning the best methods from the old timers. There's actually a great article by the late Stephen Jay Gould (paleontologist Harvard University) on this subject on why there are no longer any .400 hitters in baseball.

Just to play devils advocate you could easily take off 3 SB wins for the Pats..Falcons game was the biggest choke job ever, Seahawks close to that, and they shouldn't have even been in another SB they won.
Beat the Eagles and panthers by 3 each..don't remember the specifics of those games, anyway 3-11 doesn't seem to great to me

Geez..and reading the comments on this thread I bet it would be a real hoot to watch a cowboys game with some of you guys

Yes and all the SB wins have been in THIS CENTURY! LOL and under same coach and qb! I would guess that Pats have been to more playoff
games than any other team since 2000 and more SB appearances.

Belicheck is a HC with power, and no meddling owners, and a gm that he probably hired.
He is still a active coach, still coaches players on sidelines, and prepares his teams for any occurrence.

So no I have to say Pats >Cowboys or any other team, and to be truthful the cowboys are not even close to
    the pats.
The 90's Cowboys were great, they never lost a SB. but that is a distant memory and was in the previous century.
