I am mostly concerned with all the dropped balls as they have nothing to do with time. To me there is no excuse for a WR to drop a pass, ever. If you get your hands on it then you should catch it. If they run their routes correctly then they should be in position to make the catch and then it is up to the QB to make sure the ball is where it is supposed to be. When receivers don't run the route correctly, the QBs will try to make adjustments to them and you see a lot of wild passes.

It takes time for a QB to get used to how a receiver will run a route and what decisions he will make in that route so I can understand some of the overthrown balls to a degree but it still concerns me as it says that the QBs and receivers aren't on the same page yet.

The O-Line is being jumbled every day so there is no way they can be a cohesive unit yet. Blocking is much more difficult than most people realize, it is not as simple as lining up and stopping the guy across from you. Reading the defense and picking up the blitz are very difficult and costly if you do it wrong.

It is always much easier for the defense to shine early than the offense so don't read too much into the imbalance just yet.

It does sound as if Gurode is playing better overall- but is still making mistakes. BP has to decide if the occasional mistake is worth it.
I'm still of the opinion that having Gurode make his occasional mistake is the lesser of two evils when the other option is having Johnson sitting in Bledsoe's lap every other play.

I have only one concern about our D. If this O is as weak as I fear it might be they might get too cocky and think they can manhandle everyone like that. Maybe they can...I hope they can...but it could be a rude awakening. I am Soooo looking forward to the first preseason game to see how these guys (on both sides of the ball) look against another team.

I would agree with you, but I just can't get that Giant's game out of my head...

One thing that keeps me encouraged about our Offense and our passing game in particular is that Bledsoe always seems to have a slow start to training camp. Last year he didn't start to pick it up until the last week or so of preseason; really after they had already broke camp. But he was ready by the time the season started. I just hope that Owens can keep it together and not start throwing Bledsoe under the bus until he gets it going; there are a lot of reports about him getting frustrated.

He yelled at the line that this was one of the easiest protection schemes they had and they blew it.

I can understand the line taking some time to jell. That said, to be screwing up the basic stuff at this point is troubling.:banghead:

At this point? They are less then a week into camp and still shuffling people around everywhere.

Give it a couple of weeks and let the dust begin to settle on who is going to play where before we throw the line under the bus.

Based upon last season, everyone was concerned about the OL coming into camp. The least bit of bad news looks worse than it really is. That being said, we are all going to stay concerned all the way to Jacksonville. I think the worst news would be injuries happening along the OL and let's hope that doesn't happen.

Troubling = thrown under the bus? How dramatic...

As I said, after mini camps and a week of TC screwing up basic blocking assignments is troubling.

From reading that, it appeared the problems started when the 2nd o-line was in and it just went south from there. I didn't read alot about Adams, Kosier, Rivera, and Colombo getting beat. If the defense is that good, then the O will only get better. These types of practices happen every year and they mean nothing.

Excellent recap! Offense is always the slowest unit to come together. This is pretty normal for week 1 of camp.

No worries!!

so, the question starts to be asked.....

is our offense that disappointingly bad...

or is our defense that GOOD?

It seems every run in that blog was stuffed. Getting cohesive on pass blocking takes time but there's no excuse for all the negative plays on runs. If we can't run well this year we're going to struggle big time. And Jacksonville's DL is stout on the run.

It takes as much time to work together to block for the run as it does to pass block. And when the guy next to you is different every 4-5 plays it is really hard.

Notice this guy makes it seem that Henson did not complete one pass, the dallas media blog said that Henson looked real good today LOL

Yea, I guess they have their favorites. I do like to see he's throwing bullets, from the quote below in this article though.

then Henson threw a bullet into traffic that somehow ended up in the ends of Terry Glenn. Henson threw another dump-off to Hannam, then Mroz did the same to Crayton.

Our defense is going to be super :)

I hope this eventually translates into the O-line being able to handle anyone since they practice against one of the league's best defenses. That, IMO, was the case in the 90s. The offense and defense kept each other good because they practiced against the best.

They only practice against each other in training camp. I think it is irrelevant to the performance of the offensive line.
