I'm curious to see what Weeden does with this opportunity. This is the first time he's worked with the same Offensive Coordinator for two years in a row. He really hasn't had a proper opportunity to show that he can become a better QB. Cleveland isn't exactly a ringing success story for anybody, especially a QB with a stale offense that has no weapons.

I'm curious to see if Weeden can drive the bus, because that's all the Cowboys need him to do.

If my intuition serves me right, I just know that right now, our offensive linemen are getting themselves prepared to lay an *** whooping for the next two months. They know that the team's success over the next couple months is largely up to them.

Maybe, just maybe, the coaches are telling the truth in that article. I don't hold this preseason against Weeden. We should all know by now that preseason means nothing. If you don't, ask the Eagles.

I'm 50/50 on this. It would not surprise me if Weeden goes out there and is the same old Weeden. Throwing turnovers, not reading defenses, playing rushed, making bad decisions, etc. But it also would not surprise me to see Weeden go out there and play very well in Romo's absence.

Either way, the next couple months are guaranteed to be a hell of a ride.

Buckle your seatbelts, ladies and gentlemen.

If they can get the rushing game close to last year with the defense we've seen. Then Weeden can just be a bus driver and we can still win most games.

I agree, however I think what we will see from the RB will be more swing passes than what we have seen. To help setup favorable down and distant situations. That is not to say we will not run of course we well but based on what I have seen thus far I don't think we will run quite as much as last season but think the offense will offset that with as I said swing passes out to the backs to help get them on the edge quicker.

He did not throw an INT and given the pressure he was under in that game. He could have made bonehead throws he didn't and in the course was also knocked out of the game. I think people need to give him a chance to prove himself. Players can and do improve if given time. I don't expect him to play like a HOF I do think he has some very good talent and if the OL protects he can help this team. He is not going to improvise like Romo not many QB do and it will be important for him to get rid of it when plays break down as opposed to trying to make something out of nothing as Romo does. Weeden does not need to feel as if he has to carry this team, he doesn't. Play smart and the rest of the team will help

Wasn't there a drop or 2 in there as well? Pretty sure I remember an Escobar drop that would have been a first down.

Weeden literally hasn't had the same offensive coordinator for two consecutive years since he was in 7th grade.

That has to help him this time. He just needs to relax and play, and immediately forget anything negative that happens. Just play.

The fact that this report was in June...
The fact that it was from the QB's coach, who sees him every day...
The fact that this is the first time he's had two years in a system...
The fact that he was a 1st rounder even though he was old coming out of college...
The fact that his failures came with the freaking Browns...
The fact that he looked good in the Eagles game when Romo went down...

...all lead me to believe that Weeden is going to be a pleasant surprise. Is he going to be Romo? Of course not. But I think with this o-line and this defense, Weeden will be able to go 3-4 or 4-3 and keep us towards the top of the NFC East by the time Romo and Dez come back.

Just as with any other situation in life, some are going to see the glass as half empty, others will see it as half full.

I'm going to just take it one game at a time. He didn't do any worse on Sunday than we were doing before he came into the lineup. There's that.

Good points,,, the fact that he's had to learn a different offense each season throughout his playing career was a real eye-opener considering our chief complaints about him would at least be partially explained by that fact. Fingers-crossed.

Agreed. I would imagine that the instability he's experienced as far as Offensive Coordinators go has done absolutely nothing for him. By the time he gets into a system and started feeling confortable, it would switch on him. Let's see how he does with a couple years of stability. If I remember correctly, he was considered to be very intelligent coming out of the draft. I hope he does great over the next 2 months.

OH, SO NOW PRES-SEASON MATTERS

It matters in evaluating individual players. If you're trying to tell how good the team is going to be based off preseason, you're not going to learn much. But you can learn things like Davon Coleman deserves to be on the team. You can learn things like Dustin Vaughan took a step back and didn't deserve a roster spot. And you can learn things like Weeden still struggles when the protection breaks down.

Wade Wilson? His opinion on how a QB is progressing means zero to me.

He just has to sustain some drives here and lean on a run game that does need to improve
