Jerry's not doing anything the Patriots aren't doing. And he's not doing anything we didn't say he should do at the outset of the draft. We're maneuvering so that our picks fit the value on our board. It just so happened we got caught in a bad spot at 51 and we had to bail out.

Stephen comes out and says we're set and we want to bring in competition everywhere and we all applaud. We move to add picks when no good fit is there at 51, and 3/4 of the board goes completely to pieces without even knowing who we're going to end up with yet. It's flat ridiculous.

A voice of sanity and calmness in the face of nervous debutantes and hissing prom queens.

Other teams have other needs. Teams have traded up to get CBs and QBs, which aren't positions we'd spend a day 1 pick on.

Picks were traded for all sorts of players. To say that Dallas didn't have a single player worth trading up is like saying that they didn't have a single player with a 2nd round grade.

Maybe they believed there were players in the 3rd and 4th rounds that are comparable and with better value.

You're confusing the number of picks--which is different between the two teams--with the strategy which to relates to how to use the picks you have--which is similar between the two teams.

What's different is that the Pats picks are higher, so their fans already know what they've got to work with. That means the odds of them having a better draft are better, since they were picking from a bigger pool that contained more talent, but it doesn't mean they, or anyone for that matter, is necessarily going to end up having improved their team more than we will.

THe point is the Pats saw more value in round 2 than round 1. There are still good players in round 2, even if it is a 'down' draft year.

Not that they decided to horde a bunch of day two project and special teams picks, many of whom will never make it out of camp.

Its apples and oranges. Stop trying to use what the Pats did to justify what Jerry did.

May have to change my tag line to read 'Hissing Prom Queen.' Love that.

I really hope we trade a bunch of these picks for future picks next year because there is no way even half of the12 picks we have will make our roster IMO. I don't mind trading out of 51 if there is nobody we like there but, it makes little sense to trade down (and not get good value) if all your doing is trading for dead picks IMO. Use the picks to move up and get a player or two who are going to make our team. I don't see the sense in trading for lower picks in a draft that is supposed to be talent poor.

I don't mind trading down but I feel we should have gotten a better deal, like 3rd round pick this year and 3rd pick next year, getting 3rd and 4th round pick for our 2nd round pick seems like a bad trade.

Bingo...If we trade to get another 3rd rounder taking maybe three 3rd rounders and maybe a couple 4th's I would be pleased.

Or add to next years draft but no way we keep 12 picks if we have any sense.

Fellas, have yall thought for one second that maybe the Bills were the only team willing to dance with Jerry???

What if we have 16 players on our board with a 2nd round grade and all 16 are gone when #51 comes around. What you going to do???

Are you going to draft a guy with a 3rd round grade in the 2nd??? Hell no, that would be freaking ********. So what you do is quickly work the phones and see if you can bail out of the spot.

Yea, it would have been nice for another team to offer up their 1st rounder next year for pick #51 but that didnt happen. You have to take the best deal you get and if the points dont equal out, so be it. Sometimes you get caught in a bad spot and have to take the best deal on the table and that is what obviously happened here.

How about you get down off your high horse?

He's the only one makin' any sense so far in this thread... the rest of you are acting like the kid who wanted an ice cream cone, got told no by his folks, and laid down in the middle of the floor, screaming and kicking his feet... you're pissed because you didn't get instant gratification... how very mature of the lot of you...

None of you has considered the remote possibility that Jerry and Stephen and Tom had a basic plan of attack going into this draft, based on their assessment of this draft, and the trade in the second round was a reflection of that strategy... no, you all jump to the conclusion that the Boys went braindead on us...

I want to believe his scouting dept. can save him tomorrow, but guys..........who are the best run teams in football? IMO: Pats, Steelers, Eagles. Do THEY ever do this? NO. I know deep down it's OVER for this team the next two to three years in all likelihood.

Then we'll see you in two or three years, quitter??

I'd say we'll miss you, but my momma taught me not to lie...

You just don't do what JJ did today. NO picks in the first two rounds is unheard of.

And yet, the Bears did it too... guess they'd heard of it...
