It's mind boggling. The Steelers are a WR needy team. This isn't a good dude. They were more than happy to get rid of him. How do you make this trade and not just bring in Amari Cooper for zero draft compensation?

Signing Amari would have been more in line with what they normally would do. So it's definitely noteworthy that they chose this route over signing Amari.

Yes, my Steelers fan friend, absolutely hated getting rid of Pickens.

We thought the combination of Metcalf and Pickens would be great, like Chase and Higgins.
Now it will be Lamb and Pickens.

Who do you double cover?

I think they are all on different pages and Jerry is just gonna do what he wants when he decides he needs a certain narrative. Collect players….most notably WR.

People say he doesn’t care what the fans and media think and I couldn’t disagree more.

I just wish they wouldn’t say things then contradict it with actions soon thereafter. It’s tough to have hope that they have a clue when that happens.

(Love the username btw. Tremendous. I remember the year after the accident Reggie asked him “when you gonna block me legally?” EW said “maybe next year.” How great was that? Miss them days before Jerry’s ego was in full force.

Look at this year's 3rd round draft pick. That's the value Dallas gave up.

In no particular time order Pickens has:

- Shown up late for Steelers games
- Was repeatedly criticized by Steelers staff for lazy efforts
- Famously said he was avoiding injury by not blocking on a potential TD run against the Colts
- The on field scuffle with Jourdan Lewis where he yanked his face mask
- Got in trouble for an expletive written on his eye black
- Sideline/Locker Room issues with teammates
- Had another facemask issue in a Bengals game resulting in a large fine
- Various on field meltdowns

There are more but this should give you a better understanding of what we are getting - an uber talented kid that is very immature, self centered, loves playing the victim card, etc. If we somehow get his head screwed on straight we get a player. If we don't, he'll be gone in a year.

Schottenheimer is a tough dude and not just a tough talker. You can tell a phony tough guy a mile away and he’s not that guy. His father was a tough SOB.

First time I'm buying into a coaching staff.....since Parcells.
We are filling holes....feels like we are legitimately trying to put a run together. I can't complain....

he was the same knucklehead in College too,there is no way he is going to magically change his ways.

Not just for a year. He did everything possible to sabotage Mike McCarthy. Now, all of a sudden, he's putting in effort like he did with Garrett. Am I the only one noticing this?

The compensation worries me a lot.

A 3rd rounder seems pretty reasonable for a player who is only 24 and has proven he can produce in the NFL

His last few seasons have been pretty bad. He's not the guy he was years ago. And he's in the last year of his deal. No clue if he will be here for the long haul or if he will even be talented enough for Dallas to want him. In the past year, we have given up a lot of draft capital for 3 guys, Lance, Mingo and now Pickens. Lance isn't even here anymore. Mingo seems to be a dud. Pickens is a wild card. All 3 of these guys, you could find their current production value later in the draft, much later than the picks we gave up for them.

Would have much rather used a draft pick on a guy who would guarantee to be here for 4-5 years

are you sure you’re talking about the same player as everyone else?

Pickens is 24 years old and has only been in the league three years
