There were some interesting personnel changes today. Marc Colombo was back at 1st team RT, Petitti 2nd and Fabini 3rd. Sam Hurd continues to get time on the 1st team, with Crayton rotating in on occasion. Another switch was that Scott Shanle ran with the 1st team most of the day instead of Ayodele, who worked with the 3rd team. My guess is Parcells might showcase him in the preseason games in hopes of making a trade, because the numbers at ILB are working against him for making the roster. Abram Elam replaced Willie Pile on the 2nd string at SS for most of the day. Also, Drew Henson was a ghost for most of the day, more on that later.
The Answer said:It seems to The Answer that Ayodele has been a big disappointment so far, might not be cut out for the 3-4 after all....On the other hand Shanle is a beast and has elevated his game to another level this summer....only a few weeks into camp and he's running with the 1st team, and with a good showing on saturday he might not leave the starting lineup. All of this trade/showcasing is smoke and mirrors because this savvy 4 year pro will be starting on opening day...mark it down!

I did manage to catch a few highlights; Greg Ellis got an interception by jumping high for the ball which set the defense off into howls of celebration, Singleton had a good break up of a pass and Hurd manage to get a few passes caught during the drill.

We've always known that he possessed the physical skills to be a top-rated quarterback at the NFL level, his problems were mostly mental to go along with his lack of live action game experience. So my thought process was that NFLE was going to take care of these problems and Henson would enter camp with the confidence that would catapult him to #2. But when Matt Mosley started writing how Henson would never get a real opportunity to compete until Parcells retired, I thought he was crazy...until I started tracking his progress closely in TC. Now, I'm convinced that Henson isn't going to get that chance - and perhaps that's not necessarily a bad thing. Maybe it would be best for him to get released from this team and try to latch on with another franchise. Maybe with the right coaches in place, those that believe in his abilities, can turn him into a franchise quarterback.
I really liked this kid and wanted desperately for him to be our future. Sadly, it just doesn't seem to be in the cards.

PS: Grizz, I, too, want to thank you for a job well done. Your notes from camp were so detailed that I no longer waited for the Mosley report to come out on his blog with the news of the day. Everything that a Cowboy fan needed to know about training camp came from your news and notes on this message board - so thanks for that. You will be missed.
The Answer said:Henson's days as a cowboy are numbered, and his NFL career may have ran it's course as well.....The Answer tried telling everybody this weeks ago but the sheep that congregate on this forum refused to listen.
The Answer has been studying the quarterback position in its purest form for years now as a hardcore fan and Henson simply doesn't have it. What exactly is 'it'...well it's a collective trait that is inherent in the all time greats like Marino, Aikman, Bledsoe, etc......Don't get me wrong, Henson has raw talent, but the biggest mistake he made was publicly announcing that football wasn't his true passion and opting to play baseball instead right out of college....a move that will likely haunt him the rest of his life as he ponders what could have been.
If Romo doesn't step to the plate in these upcoming preseason games....look for the front office to sign Kerry Collins as a last minute insurance policy...kinda surprised this veteran is still out there on the market to tell you the truth.
