It seems to The Answer that Ayodele has been a big disappointment so far, might not be cut out for the 3-4 after all....On the other hand Shanle is a beast and has elevated his game to another level this summer....only a few weeks into camp and he's running with the 1st team, and with a good showing on saturday he might not leave the starting lineup. All of this trade/showcasing is smoke and mirrors because this savvy 4 year pro will be starting on opening day...mark it down!

Also looks like Hensons days as a Cowboy are numbered....

~The Answer

It amazes me how we can draw conclusion off of the simplest things and make them into full length movies.

Parcells said just the other day that Ayodele was doing very well. That he would be a good fit for us. Also said that he wanted to see a lot of the young guys this week. Said he would play them good minutes to try and find out what he had. The fact that Shanle got a chance to work with the first team may just mean he's trying to make decisions. I don't think it means he's going to start. I think it means we are heavy at the position and BP wants to see what Shanle has with talent around him.

Same deal with Henson. Parcells said in his press conference, just yesterday I believe, that he would likely play two QBs this week and probably two next. Said that he wanted to get good time in with them rather then giving each a quarter. That could very well be what's going on. There is no reason to cut Henson at this point. He is suprior to any 3rd string QB out there. Why would you do this if you don't have somebody better to bring in? Nobody has cut any decent QBs that I am aware of so until that happens, I don't see the turk lurking behind Henson's locker at this point. I could certainly be wrong but BP told us what he was going to do prior to doing it. Now that it happens, we are busy putting our own conclusions together.

I don't think either move means anything at this point.

Grizz, thank you very much for all of your hard work. Your reports have been pure gold, and have given us great info on the new players, as well as old.

I along with many others, I'm sure, will visit your blog often. Have a safe return home.

Go Cowboys!

Dboyz thinks the Answer is dead wrong. Shanle will not start this year, probably either be traded or cut, and Henson will again be the 3rd string QB.

Henson's days as a cowboy are numbered, and his NFL career may have ran it's course as well.....The Answer tried telling everybody this weeks ago but the sheep that congregate on this forum refused to listen.

The Answer has been studying the quarterback position in its purest form for years now as a hardcore fan and Henson simply doesn't have it. What exactly is 'it'...well it's a collective trait that is inherent in the all time greats like Marino, Aikman, Bledsoe, etc......Don't get me wrong, Henson has raw talent, but the biggest mistake he made was publicly announcing that football wasn't his true passion and opting to play baseball instead right out of college....a move that will likely haunt him the rest of his life as he ponders what could have been.

If Romo doesn't step to the plate in these upcoming preseason games....look for the front office to sign Kerry Collins as a last minute insurance policy...kinda surprised this veteran is still out there on the market to tell you the truth.

Here is the analysis that studying QB in its "purest form" produces. Enjoy.

Grizz, You have watched 18 practices and reported great detail which is much appreciated. There has been much discussion on this board as to whether T Romo has a strong arm or a weak arm. After watching for so long, what is your opinion on this matter?

Can he make all the throws or not?

Romo has enough arm to play in the NFL. In my observation, there wasn't a throw out on the practice field he couldn't make. I'm not going to put his arm strength in the category of say, Bledsoe, but I'm not worried about his arm.

I've read...from your reports  ...that ROmo has been doing alot of intermediate routes, and is looking good, but how is he on the deep stuff? I haven't read too many reports about him hitting WRs on the 15-20-25 yard stuff

He makes the throws long sometimes, but he's not always on target. When I say long, I mean more than 20 yds, he's pretty accurate under 20 yds. Then again, all three QB's have been missing long in camp regularly. Romo seems very concious of getting the ball out quick, of the 3 he almost always beats the 2.5 second buzzer, sometimes with plenty of time to spare. Thus, you see him throw short and intermediate a lot. I can say with a lot of certainty that he makes the quickest decisions of the 3 in camp.

Grizz I want to thank you for filling us in on practices better than anyone ever has on these boards, past or present.

Something that would be really great is a evaluation of players you saw in camp. Kind of a review of the player after two weeks and your personal feelings on them. I know that would be a ton of work but IMO it would be a great way to fill a blog out.

Expect that over the weekend. I already posted a 1 week review last weekend on my blog.
