We will be making a big mistake if we keep semi over this guy…but seems like that may be the zero sum decision they will have to make

He has to be a great returner and like said he is going to need to be somewhat effective in gunner position. I wonder how fast he is but they need a speed guy at WR, Cooks is decently fast but they need another one and Turpin seems to be only a specialist and not a WR.

Cowboys training camp: UDFA star of the day is Jalen Moreno-Cropper (again)

The Cowboys returned to the practice field Thursday at training camp, and a familiar/unfamiliar face stood out from the crowd once again.

Having gotten an up-close look at camp, here’s what Nick Harris of dallascowboys.com had to say of young receivers second day at training camp

Mahomes would be loving this dude, WM hits again, we find a way to retain JMC.

Again…won’t make the team over one of the 3-4 JAGs at WR they end up keeping. Will get stashed, but picked up. Told you this two (2) days ago.
Patience grass hopper, lets get into some pre season games and let the comp actually compete.

He will be this years Dennis Houston. As the previous years Brandon Smith, as the previous years .... and so on.

Yeah stash on PS, as fans will think he will get plucked from th roster, or possible trade. But neither will happen.

However, there aren't 3 or 4 jags that will make the roster.

Lamb, Cooks, a 100% Gallup, Tolbert will be better and above JAG status IMO. Turpin as the return guy, but yeah, jag at WR. Leaves 1 more spot for a learning jag. Maybe Fehoko.

Cropper, Houston, Drummond, Brooks, Durden all vie for 2 or 3 PS player spots. Brooks will get 1 spot for sure since he was a draft pick.

Making the team is one thing. He started for us. They could’ve went out and signed a vet
He had a very good TC and PS games. I am not knocking him for that. He deserved to make the roster at that point. I was saying if Gallup was ready to play, that probably would not have happened.

I think he has a shot.

With the new kickoff rules / Deuce working on punts, Turpin is a possible cut. He needs to beat out Simi and he should make the team.
I'm not cutting Turpin at all. I know he didn't score a td on special teams, but this guy is still a field flipper. He should've scored a few times last year and was one move a way from breaking a few.

We need a speedy type WR…he seems to fit what we are missing in the room or hoped Turpin could be

If the youngster shows up big when the pads come on and outperforms other receivers in preseason, he will definitely have a nice shot at making the team, but he has to be better than Fehoko, better than our 6th round pick. If he is clearly the number 5 receiver, special teams won’t matter. They won’t risk losing him on waivers trying to put him on the PS. They won’t make that mistake again after losing a DT who would likely be in our rotation this year. If he stays hot and makes plays in preseason, you keep the rookie on the friendly longer contract.

What makes you assume that, maybe we want to get deeper there.
If nobody else wants to step and seize the WR4/5 than there is room for improved comp. there.
