Teams often tell each other who they want.
Thats how you build a strong trade bond.
KC and Vegas are AFC teams that would definitely be open to working with Dallas.
NFL smoke screening works far more on fans than rival teams.

Nick Eatman knew Dallas pick quite early and noted people would say it is a reach.
Yeah I assume there's a ton of "we want ____ here, if you're not taking him we can trade" and if the team lies then their reputation is trashed.

As Jerry said, “who gives a bleep! We got him”.

Yup. Burning a bridge to hustle a team is bad business generally.
GM you burn in LA may have an asst GM that gets the Chicago job next year.
Now both think you are a lying sack of nickels.

It's quite OK to be honest and say hey we know you like this guy but we really like him and would offer X,Y and Z to get him.
Or we like player X and you like player Y how do we make this happen.

Hitting on your evaluations separates heat from chaff not outsmarting people.
Dallas fleeced Minny bad (send us player X, Y and Z but if they can't make our team or get snaps revert to picks in rounds 3,4,5 all while knowing he was cutting or sitting those dudes) then no one wanted to trade with Jimmy for years once the details got out.

I'd really like to know what LV had offered if they did want to move up.

Likely would have been their third and probably a future pick. If they were gonna throw us a future #1, hmmmmm, I might have listened.

I lost a great deal of respect for Kyle Yoemans. There is no way KC and LV told anyone they were trying to get Mazi.
He only said that about KC. He said LV tried to trade back into the first but didn't mention for whom. Yahoo reported it was for J. Porter. I don't think anybody has liked LV to Mazi.

I suggest taking these reports from unknown "sources" with a huge grain of salt.

Kansas City wouldn't have told Dallas who they were trading up to draft, and they wouldn't have told a reporter.

Draft season, including the PR all the teams do surrounding it...is lying season.
No no. Jerry is just a draft whiz renown and feared throughout the league for his ability to outsmart other teams. KC wanted our guy. Letting Schultz leave and going into the draft with scrubs at TE was all part of the offseason subterfuge to make the whole league think we were going TE. Man we sure fooled the Bills.

My dude, you spelled his name wrong and then misquoted him. Hard to have less respect, lol.

KD told us KC said they were after Mazi and again that would follow with other stuff they did, have done.
It is also widely known Jerry flat asks teams who they are after.

Note KC stuck and did take a DL though an edge moreso than interior DL which was pretty wiped out.
4 DL went in picks 26-31.
